3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Draft. Poured clear dark amber color with an average frothy white head that lasted with good lacing. Moderate citrus hop and spice aroma. Medium body with a slick texture and soft carbonation. Moderate citrus bittersweet flavor with a moderate bittersweet finish of medium duration. This is a intersting good beer.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12 oz. bottle. Pours a nice amber orange color with a thick white head. Aroma of mango, papaya, nice hops, with a touch of pepper heat to sting the nostrils a bit. Flavor is mostly mango and papaya sweetness, a touch of bitterness, with a strong growing heat that eventually reaches a mild burning crescendo. Quite nice and well done, if you know what youíre getting into and of course are into that sort of thing. Medium bodied, somewhat sticky, with an above average carbonation note. Finishes with habanero heat. This seems like it wouldnít work but it does, and it works well.

3.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Orange/amber slightly cloudy pour with very faint hazy white head on top. Really juicy citrus hops, grapefuit citrus, strong mango/papaya, small amount of creamy lactose, perhaps spicy peppers as well. Average carbonation, tingly, chalky mouthfeel, dry spicy finish. Subtlely blended flavors of pine and citrus hops, cream, very slight salty malt, spiciness concentrated in the back of the throat. Nice, somewhat light pale ale with spiciness in feel but not too much pepper flavor. Decent but doesnít blow me away.

2 AROMA 3/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 6/20
UPDATED: DEC 10, 2013 Bottle: very nice, beaming copper color with reasonable clarity & a soapy, mildly off-white head that settles quickly. Aroma has notes of sweet tropical fruit (papaya, maybe some mango), lightly spicy florals, citric hops, very light chilies, & even a slight lactic acid background aroma... Kind of strange. Taste is not as fruity sweet as the aroma makes it seem. Not much flavor at all first, really, just some general maltiness with a chili pepper burn that crescendos deep into the finish. Spicy heat aftertaste. Very faint tropical fruit & zesty hops with some time but peppers still dominate the finish. Not enough to balance the spice.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
$2.99 single poured into a shaker pint. Bottling dateís not on here, but it was bottled pretty recently.
Appearance: A golden orange sort of color with a very slight haze. Finger of soapy head sits on top, and leaves fantastic lacing. The highlight of Firefly.
Smell: Odd, but compelling. Smells like old grass with papaya... also sort of a sour aroma as well. A honey sort of sweetness. Really just smells like candied yard trimmings and squished up fruit.
Taste/feel: Pretty sweet. That grassy/yard sort of flavor is there with the papaya. Bready malt finish. Slight hop spiciness. The habanero burn on the end is quite subtle, and only is felt slightly in the back of the throat. Iím not sure what it is about this beer, but thereís just some sort of strange flavor Iím pulling out of it. Itís not bad on the taste buds, but I wouldnít be able to handle a six-pack, and the price is higher than it ought to be. I guess the aroma is sort of like candy corn? But not. Itís in the taste a bit too. Frustrated me to not know what causes that, but I donít care for it. The feel is medium in body and carbonation, which adds to the slight afterburn that the habanero peppers bring.
Iíve loved just about every offering Odd Side has dished out, but Iím just not quite feeling this one. I love spicy foods, and I enjoy fruit in (some) of my beers, but this beer is a bit too unusual for me. Strangely enough, I think it may be the malts they chose (crystal?). Iím not too keen on most characteristics of certain hops/malts, but Iíve had a few beers with this aroma (C-Monster immediately comes to mind, from Liberty Street), and somewhat similar profile... I havenít liked them all that much. Itís not a beer Iíd turn down, but hardly one Iíd seek out again -- the more I drank it, the less I enjoyed it.

Bottle. The pour is light orange. The aroma is fruity. The taste is light and a very light hint of heat in the very tail end.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Bottle. Pours a clear golden amber color with a small bubbly head that quickly fades to a ring. Aromas are papaya, citrus, flowers, and light smokey peppers. Peppers are stronger in the taste than the aroma but theres enough sweetness so that it doesnít overpower. A juicy citrus taste shows at the before the peppers come in. Medium body, good mouthfeel. Another cool unique beer from Odd Side.

Flavor was dominated by hot pepper aftertaste. However, total impression was a quality ale. Odd side continues to impress!

Bottle. A little surprised the scores are so low for this one. I thought it had a nice balance between hop, spice and floral notes. Found it quite interesting and enjoyable.

I Wasnít too sure on what to expect on this one. At first I thought it was really refreshing and nice. The peppery presence was there but after the sip goes down it comes back with some power. The spice was definitely too dominant and took over any other nice quality this beer had.
