Amazing vanilla and cinammon notes. Smells like a fresh baked cookie. Head is light but color is nice dark black. Taste is like the smell. Great creaminess. Nice vanilla and cinnamon and nutmeg. Light on the palate. Easy finish. A great beer especially for a spice beer. Also a pepper spice in the finish.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Flight pour on tap at the brewpub (Grand Haven, MI). Pours a deep blackish deep hue, near opaque, a murky brownish glow on the edges with a frothy light brown head atop. Solid layer dies to a decent ring, laces ok. Aromas are cocoa, rich deep caramel and gentle spice. Touches of espresso, cocoa nib and decent cinnamon show some liveliness. Nice, rich, enjoyable. Initial is fuller bodied, a nice roasty and carmelized element shows a firm cinnamon dusting, milk chocolate and gentle spiciness. Touches of caramel, roast and cocoa catch on. Deep, some creaminess in a nice firm middle show some life. Backend coffee, roast, spicy earthy cinnamon sustaining well. Flavorful, rich, a bit dry as we move on. Some spiciness, gentle pepper, rich depth of cocoa nib, dark chocolate and biscuity malt sustain. Finish is dry, spicy and a bit bitter. Some firm lingering dark chocolate, coffee, mocha. Cinnamon has died out at this point. Rich and on point stout. The Habanero is gentle, a bit warm down the back of the throat, but restrained. This stout offers some impressive depth for 6% ABV, so I bumped it up 1 overall. A really nice beer.

32 oz. growler filled at the tap room. Pours a very dark brown with a medium tan head. The head sticks around a bit, with some lacing. Aroma of dark chocolate, cinnamon, and habanero pepper. Intoxicating. Delicious. Flavor is bitter dark chocolate, cinnamon, and heat. The heat is balanced with the dark chocolate but apparent in this one. Silky body, average carbonation. Goes down with some heat in the finish. This is a standout beer that is one of the best I’ve ever had.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
12oz bottle pours creamy dark brown black with a finger of tan head. Nose is chocolatey spice, cinnamon, touch of pepper, coffee. Taste has nice soft mouthfeel, creamer, coffee, pepper spice, cinnamon, milk chocolate. Finish is spices, nutmeg, cinnamon, bitter coffee, some sweet roast cocoa, strong pepper heat. The use of spices and peppers was fairly well balanced but the base beer itself was a bit lacking and fairly average. Still decently enjoyable.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 10/20
Bottle poured into teku glass. Well, this is an interesting chocolate stout. Pours dark like charcoal, with the heat and chilies not as noticeable until this warms up to room temp. Has an astoundingly spicy kick, not for those who don’t enjoy the heat of cayenne pepper and red chilies.
