On draft at Captain Joe’s in Whitmore Lake on September 26 with Tara Dye. The pour is a bright golden yellow color with a frothy white head and some decent lacing. It’s foggy. The aroma is different. There is a strange dankness to it that I wasn’t expecting. For the most part, it smells like someone just threw wet whole cones in there, and waited to see what happened. There is a little pine resin, but for the most part it just smells like damp hops. Not great. The flavor is similar, if not a touch worse. There is a wet pine thing happening, and the wet leaf comes back in greater force. Light resin, and just a dominating dankness. The mouth feel is light and watery, hardly carbonated with a lingeringly messy finish. Like I just pulled some hops out of a barrel of water and sucked on them. Not a fan at all.

Bottle: Bright golden-yellow body with moderate haziness; white, foamy, big-bubbled cap settles quickly to a lazy film. Aroma is, well, heavy Simcoe. Pine needles, brash florals, woodsy & earthy spice, bitter grapefruit rind, a hint of apricot, & mild perfume. Smells bitter. Tastes bitter, too. Surprisingly robust & flavorful for a 4.5% ABV brew, actually. Heavy pine needs, resin, white pepper, spicy & earthy in a staunch bitterness that leads into a strong evergreen & perfumey back-end. Wet, oily, & moderately thin mouth feel. Malt is fully eclipsed by the hop abrasion. Slightly palate fatiguing, which is funny considering the lower ABV, but all-in-all, a nice hop bomb.

12 oz. bottle from family from notes. Pours a hazy orange amber color with a medium sized off white head. The aroma and flavor have dank, resiny hops, some grapefruit citrus, grass, toasted malts, caramel, not too bad for a lighter, session ipa, mild to moderate bitterness.
