COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Professor Hops is an India-style saison, pale in color. He blends pungent hops with unique Belgian yeast that impart herbal and citrus flavors. A hint of Brettanomyces rounds out the flavor, and causes the beer to evolve continuously as it ages. O.G. 1.060. Fermentables: 2-Row Barley, Dextrose. Hops: Summit, Simcoe, Centennial.

Overall appearance is nice. Clear light gold. Head lingers for a minute taste is butter and caramel with a very small hop profile. Diacetyl is very noticeable which is a shame as this would be a great crisp beer otherwise.

Bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is medium yellow. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (grapefruit, resin), with notes of lemon zest, gum, pepper, alcohol. Flavor is moderately to heavily sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, moderately bitter. Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation, lightly alcoholic. Definitely deserves credit for being equal parts Belgian and American...there’s definitely a punch of green/resinous hops in the nose but a lot of Belgian gum/lemon/pepper odors from the yeast as well. Needs to be sharper in the finish, though, as the slightly saccharine sugars linger a bit too long for my liking...rather watery too. A pretty good effort overall.

On tap at Colorado Plus. Gold and clear with a dissipating white head, moderate lacing. Aroma of tropical fruit, sweet malts, black pepper, toast/bread and earthy hops. Similar flavor, medium bitterness and mild sweetness. Medium body with a crisp feel and a sweet, refreshing finish. Pretty smooth.

Draft at the brewery. Pours very clear gold with a thin, fizzy white head. Tastes musky, hoppy, like grains and a faint sourness. Light body and low carbonation. Smells like musk, resin, and leather.
