COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Richer than most amber ales, 90 Shilling is smooth & deeply satisfying, with a crisp, clean Colorado taste. The name comes from the old Scottish method of naming a brewery's beer, based on original gravity and resulting tax rating.

What a disappointment - I expected much more. Will not try it again. Bland almost to unpleasant; nothing positive stands out. Then again, nothing in particular is negative. It’s as though every attempted flavor was lost in the mix, the result is a mess rather than a nice integrated effect.

Pours amber with white head, aroma is some nice caramel, bread, biscuit, and nutty elements. Taste is smooth, with caramel, bread, and some dry elements at the end. Not a bad session brew.

12oz bottle. Light brown color, light tan head. Very nice color. Aroma of sweet malts, rich toasted malt. Very deep malt aroma. Flavor has a toasted malt character, a touch of chocolate malt. A bit of biscuits and a hint of nutty flavors. Finishes with a bit of dark fruit. Very low bitterness. It is very enjoyable.

Sampled at brewery. Clear amber, frothy beige head. Aroma of roast caramel, vanilla, cream. Taste is very roasty and biscuity with some burnt flavor. Smooth.

UPDATED: NOV 24, 2011 on tap in Denver... pours an amber with a thin white head... big caramel malts with light nuts and a slight roast... medium body... dry finish with more sweet malt, and light roast... kind of reminds me of Fat Tire...

Ok pour; light brown with white head. Not much of an aroma, but faintly nutty. Light palate with a lightly bitter taste. Overall not too bad.

Pours a deep dark brown. Aromas of chocolate, with hints of nut and coffee. Flavor is a nice creamy chocolate with a bittersweet aftertaste.

Nose of lightlÝ toasted malts, caramel, and dark fruit - faint. Soft hops as well. Pours amber with nice lace and a bubbly lasting head. Toasty with caramel and a soft tangy dark fruit flavor. Soft earthy hops in the finish. Sessionable and with just enough uniqueness to set it apart from other session ales.
