COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Richer than most amber ales, 90 Shilling is smooth & deeply satisfying, with a crisp, clean Colorado taste. The name comes from the old Scottish method of naming a brewery's beer, based on original gravity and resulting tax rating.

Bottle: Pours a copper color, sort of dull, with some amoeba like floaties. Large fluffy beige head. Aroma is dry florals and earthy, bready malt. Tastes sweeter than expected; caramel and light florals. Finishes with a dry, earthy bit. Just the faintest hint of peat. Not bad.

Poured a nice, medium amber color, with some good light tan foam on top. Aromas of biscuit, light caramel and hops. On the palate, light to medium bodied, with a little caramel, some biscuit and a kiss of hops.

A dark reddish brown color with a medium tan head. The aroma is smoky and caramel. The flavor has a bitter chocolate and roasted quality and a kind of unpleasant finish. Nice consistency and lacing, but not a huge fan.

Pours a rich brown/caramel color. Small creamy off-white head. Some lacing. Slight malty and metallic aroma. Same in the taste. An astringent mouthfeel. Slightly carbonic. Bitter. Not bad.

From bottle, like a heavy red/brown. The aroma was heavier than the taste, a good thing in my eyes. Really enjoyed this one, which makes two for two with Odell. The other being their 5 Barrel PA.

Thanks to Joel for this... pours a pretty, clear amber, creamy tan head, nice cap and lacing... the nose is basically dead, a bit of toffee and spice, boring... the taste is pine and caramel malt, very chewy, not bad, but I can’t imagine having this again

On tap at Old Chicago Pasta and Pizza in Boulder, CO. I ordered this expecting a Scotch ale, but found the beer to be more like an amber ale or an altbier. It sat pale brown in the glass, giving off a modestly sweet aroma. The flavor proved somewhat more intense but still restrained, combining notes of cola slurpee with a dash of hop leavening. An okay beer that is best reserved for a session.
