COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Richer than most amber ales, 90 Shilling is smooth & deeply satisfying, with a crisp, clean Colorado taste. The name comes from the old Scottish method of naming a brewery's beer, based on original gravity and resulting tax rating.

On tap in a pint glass. Gorgeous copper color with a thick butter-hued head. The head had a really dense texture, similar to what one would expect from a nitrogen-charged tap. The mouthfeel was thick and velvety. The taste was nuanced with a range of flavors, heavy on a gentle malt. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Pours a beautiful Amber red. Taste is very smooth and goes down well. The drink is balanced well overall and neither the sweetness of bitterness takes over. Enjoyable and could easily drink again ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

A third giving from doug odell himself. Pours a copper with a thin head. Loads of toffee on the nose. Quite a sweet toffee flavour too. All their beers appear to be sweet.

Plenty of caramel, slightly toasty. Not much else going for it. Might be my mood at the time but not really for me.

pours a dark amber color with nice off-white head. Aroma is malt-forward with a hint of hops. Caramel and a touch of coffee are present. Flavor is extremely well balanced. Though itís on the malty side, itís not sweet, and has a detectable hop bitterness that plays very well with the malts. Finish is super-clean, making you want another sip. I finished this bottle way too fast. Time to find another!

Bottle. Pours a clear gold with thick white head. The aroma is earthy malt and toast. Thin mouth, sweet fruity malt, light finish, crushable, good.

Pale bronze poor with thin white head. Caramel and brown sugar notes on the aroma. Mild bitterness with good carbonation gives the bear a nice kick.

Bottle @home. Pours copper almost red. Nose is malty, sweet, grass, slight wood, caramel, slight spice. Taste is more of the same but with more toffee and an but not unpleasant metallic finish.

Shared 12 oz. bottle. Pale amber with off-white head. Faint malt and hop aroma. Taste: Mild malt, a hint of bitterness. Overall, pretty bland, but light and very drinkable.

Aroma: Roasty, bready, slightly funky; Appearance: thick, pillowy head that dissipates quickly with a little lacing; clear, amber color; Taste: surprisingly lager-like, a little sweet and a little skunky; smooth with lighter body than appearance would indicate; light body with short finish and flat carbonation; Overall: disappointing; would not buy again.

Proving beer doesnít have to be "big" to be good. Very smooth and easy to drink start to finish. Nice mix of mostly citrusy and a little sprucy hops balanced with the more evident malt. Very short head, but stuck around.
