COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Richer than most amber ales, 90 Shilling is smooth & deeply satisfying, with a crisp, clean Colorado taste. The name comes from the old Scottish method of naming a brewery's beer, based on original gravity and resulting tax rating.

Sampled at the Untapped festival in Fort Worth. Pours a near clear deep amber with a tan head that dissipates to the edges. Aroma has notes of bread, grain, toffee and biscuit. Flavor is similar with a bit of sweetness from the toffee supported by bread, grain and biscuit.

355ml bottle from Beermoth. Pours a warm mahogany brown, not much aroma but quite an interesting taste.. not particularly hop heavy but with a nice malty element and a little heather sweetness on the finish. Very nice indeed.

Aroma: light caramel and brad malts. Appearance: dark brown, small white head. Taste: light bitter. Palate: light bitters continue, average-long dry finish. Overall: nice Scotch Ale, but both aroma and palate could be more pronounced. Bottle at The Fox, Haggerston.

Bottle. Nose has a touch of perfume, roast, yeast, and smoke... nice. Pours a medium amber-red with some haze and a very smooth off-white head. Flavor is definitely Scottish ale -- the sweet spot where smoky toffee caramel and drier amber ale meet. There’s even a touch of peatiness. Finish is long, rich, and silky. New fave.
