Dark brown pour with a khaki head. Roasted malt, cocoa powder, toasted bread, and some light grape. Notes of wood, some peppery spice, and a touch of metal. Light malt sweetness of caramel, some grapes, and a bit of wood. Lightly metallic, roasted malt, cocoa, and some hints of pepper.

Bottle @ Papsø. Pours a dark amber brown color with a small off-white head. Has a slightly roasted malty woody wine and caramel aroma. Sweetish weak roasted malty caramel woody wine flavor. Has a sweetish roasted malty caramel finish.

Bottle. Cork gives a loud pop when it is finally yanked unwillingly from the bottle. Very head and carbonated. Some roast and sweet grape. Medium mouthfeel. Nice lacing. Pretty sweet upfront and throughout. Not as dry as I anticipated. Fruity. Meh....So after a glass this somewhat grows on me but as it warms you do get some alcohol notes.

unclemike (1889) - Ft. Riley, Kansas, USA - APR 27, 2013
Aroma of toasted, almost smoked, malt with chocolate notes. Coffee? Maybe. Near opaque dark brown color with some white/beige head that sort of laces. Full body with creamy carbonation. It’s smoky. There’s coffee, and chocolate, and something like not too sweet dark fruit. The finish is relatively dry, and the toast and hop bitter really pluck at the mouth

750 mL bottle poured into a snifter. Pours a nearly opaque brown/black with red highlights and a big brown head that leaves nice lacing. Aroma is musty with roasted malts and grapes. Taste is caramel, coffee, and grapes with a dry wine like finish.

Full bodied flavor, with a definitely barley "wine" style flavor. Not worth $16 for a bomber in my opinion, but a good beer nontheless ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

This is a very nice porter. Smooth, rich, and dark. A dense mouthfeel with the grape and wine barrel flavors adding a splendid subtle touch of tartness. Picked this up at the cork and barrel in Lawrence.

Dark, with small beige head. Good lacing. Fairly Nuetral aroma, but complex taste. Sweet, toffee, well balanced and easy to drink..
