COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
An Imperial Porter aged in oak wine barrels accented with juice from Tempranillo grapes grown on the Western Slope of Colorado, this harmonic combination is truly, a must.

Pours super crazy with deep 2 inch brown sugar color head. Aromatics hit with normal porter notes (chocolate, sugar, molasses) it finishes with lots of grape/red wine tannic notes. Flavor hits with quick complexities that do not last. Lots of chocolate, slight brown sugar, tannins, and some barrel characters. Great brew!

Deep brown pour, tan head. Roasted malt, prunes, red wine notes, tannins, tartness, tart cherries. Cool beer. Much better as it warms.

UPDATED: FEB 28, 2014 At Boulder Strong Ale. Pretty flat and standard roasted and caramel malt porter nose, with some fruit if you look for it. Taste is complex though-solid porter profile with tart fruit and mild wine tannins. This will definitely improve with some age. Probably better warmer, but didn’t have the luxury of waiting to savor a small taster at Strong Ale. Have a bottle and after trying it, plan to get more for cellaring. >>Bottle with about a year on it. Some red wine fruit, coffee, and other standard porter elements on the nose. Taste has come together from what I remember, with nice porter core and tart red wine.

750ml corked and caged bottle served in a tulip. Poured a deep brown with some red hints. A couple of fingers of tan head. Chocolate malt and some fruit in the aroma. Medium to full bodied. Some more chocolate along with vanilla from the oak in the flavor. A little fruit comes through especially as it warms. Alcohol is well hidden. Very smooth and rich. This experiment works for me. Very drinkable beer, although pretty expensive at $15.

On tap at Black Bottle Brewery. Black with a tan head. The aroma and flavor is wine, herbs, wood, roasted malts, dark fruit and grape juice. Pretty interesting flavor with a nice, dry feel and finish.

Pour out of 750 mL bottle, thick black pour with tan head, aroma brought notes of wine, grapefruit, hints of metallic notes, touch of coffee, roast, slight toffee. Taste is a mix of grape, slight wine, hints of metallic notes, hints of roast, chocolate, finishing fairly sweet, roasted.

750 ml. corked and caged. Pours an enormous, very well retained, beige head of variably sized bubbles, with extensive lacing, over an apparently clear dark brown (SRM 25) body.....nose is light chocolate, coffee hints, light musty wine barrel, light rubber.......taste is light chocolate, vinous, light sweetness, finishing with minimal bitterness....mouth feel medium, sticky, very lightly astringent, carbonation adds tingling spritz. This is an interesting confection. It is mildly sweet, but the wine juice (from a classic Spanish red grape) mitigates the sweetness greatly. The grapes, both juice additions and time in the barrels, were used with light hands. The dark malt back bone stands up to the grape additions quite well and the result is a surprisingly good experiment. The only off is the light bit of rubber, which dissipates slowly. Dark brown pour. Chocolate and coffee on the nose. A tartness reminiscent of some sour beers exists in the taste. Very nice, creamy mouthfeel. Ends on the same chocolate and coffee notes that it started on.

Tap @ Odell. Pours a deep reddish brown appearance with a thin tan head. Somewhat herbal/woody, dark grape, chocolate, a bit roasty aroma. The flavor has a lot of roasty chocolate notes with the grape/plum notes playing nicely in the background with just a bit of tartness. Overall, not a bad release.

2/13 draft @ paps. Thin looking and feeling but a nice change. Pretty much dead on a roasty porter with wood notes and wine. Slight tart,tannic and fruity
