A burgundy brown pour with a caramel head. Smells almost like a port wine. Grapes, spice and malt with a little oak in the nose. Tastes of sweet malt and chocolate/toffee, oak, grape, and spice.

Tap at Odell - clear dark ruby pour - nose is pretty much all imperial porter - caramelized sugars, chocolate - canít really detect the barrel - if I didnít know, I would not guess - body is definitely thin for something of this strength - approach is all chocolate and burnt sugars - middle has a slight hint of grape juice - finish is light roast and char, along with a hint of tartness - again, hard to detect the barrel/wine - seriously disappointing, but not necessarily bad - glad I didnít spend 14 bucks on a bottle.

Draft pour rich brown with burgundy hue. Very light aroma. Very sweet taste with lots of caramel malts. Light hop bitterness balances the malts nicely. Complex flavor with woodiness from barrel aging. Despite high gravity, no boozy flavor (ie well-masked). Very unique for an already uncommon style (imperial porter). ---Rated whilst imbibing

Bottle @ PapsÝ. Pours opaque dark brown with a good lacing and huge beige head. Aroma is toffee, red berreies, wood, roasted malt, grapes, bubblegum, sour berries. Taste is medium sweet, light+ bitter and light tart. Body is medium, carbonation is moderate. Finishes fruity sweet, woody, tart and tannic.

Bottle. Pours a dark, opaque, maroon brown with a finger and a half of fine tan head. Great retention, pillowyh head, with sheets of lacing. Aroma is grape, oaky, roasted, dark, and chocolate malts. Flavor is grapy, oaky, vinous, with a roasted, chocolate finish, mild alcohol. Flavor has grape and wine character on the nose while retaining good porter character. Was afraid the fruit flavor might be overbearing between the juice and the wine barrels. Moderate carbonation, medium body, slightly oily and chewy texture, and mildly dry finish. An interesting porter, rich, roasted, chocolatey, with a nice fruity character. Well balanced, unique, excellent.

Bottle pours a dark opaque brown with a medium tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, espresso, brown sugar, and oak. Taste is smoky, chocolate, and classic porter with a bit of tart grape on the finish. The grape juice is not as present as I had expected, but the overall product is very palatable.

750 ml. bottle- Pours a hazy dark brown to black with a one finger tan head that reduces to a blanket. aroma is roasted malts, wine grapes, vinegar, almost tart, interesting thatís for sure. The taste is more chocolatey than the aroma led on. But you know what it tastes like, a dark sour ale, New Belgium Clutch is a perfect example, very similar, somewhat tart, chocolate, oak, really tasty and interesting. The grapes of the Tempranillo variety obviously enhanced the taste of this beer, but when I drink this, I donít think wine grapes, I think sour ale mixed with an imperial porter, and I am not complaining, very tasty beer.

Appearance: Pours brown. Atop sits a thin tight beige cap.

Aroma: Dark chocolate covered raspberry, chocolate malt.

Taste: Red wine barrel, dark chocolate,oak.branbles. Long roasty finish.

Mouthfeel: Lively carbonation. Full bodied.

Overall: Iím usually not big on these beer/wine hybrids, but this delivered big time.

On draft at World of Beer - Tempe. Pours a very dark brown with a hint of purple and a tan one-finger head. Aroma of oak, light vinous tones, roasted malts, biscuit, and coffee. Mellow vinous flavor up front (though the grape tones build toward the end) with caramel, prunes, toffee, and a slight bitter coffee finish. Medium body with faint puckering tart mouthfeel. No surprises here; this brew tastes exactly like I expected based on the description.
