Bottle pours a dark opaque brown with a medium tan head. Aromas of roasted malt, espresso, brown sugar, and oak. Taste is smoky, chocolate, and classic porter with a bit of tart grape on the finish. The grape juice is not as present as I had expected, but the overall product is very palatable.

Pours brown with tan head. Aroma is sweet malt, a little toast, and some tart cherry. Flavor is sweet, some roast, and fruit juice, light malt, and a little funk. Lightly bitter and dry finish.

Good head retention. Pours a nice deep opaque brown with really good creay tan head. Nice thick collar and swirls held until the very end. Pungent earthy wine-like aromas. Some nice sweet roasty malt character. Taste is the wine up front (dry, deep fruit, dark), grape juice right behind that but only for a second, and ends with a nice woody-ness. Great high carbonation and medium-thick body. I really dig this beer!

750 ml corked and caged bottle. Aroma is initially somewhat unpleasant-- cloying sweetness--but it starts to develop into something more interesting after a couple minutes; I get raisins, molasses, licorice, wood. Pours dark mahogany with a large beige head with great retention; has a foamy look that I know will translate to the palate. Taste is as described: strong porter mixed with grape juice. The cloying sweetness I noticed in the nose in the first couple of minutes after I popped the cork is not noticeable in flavor at all. It starts out vaguely sweet before nice bitterness, savoriness and tartness take over. The porter is nice and roasty, a bit chocolaty, the grapes are somewhat tart. Mouthfeel is foamy as predicted from the look of the head; I like a more finely carbonated beer, and this is the beer’s biggest flaw for me. Good brew, though, even with these quibbles.

From a recent trade and shared with some nonbeer devotees. Pours almost black with thinner tan head. Smell is a smooth sweet and slightly roasted porter base with some barrel and grape juice showing up. The flavor definitely shows the grape in more of a juice manner than a vinous/wine manner. However, the smooth and rich beer melds well with the addition for just a subtle touch of tartness. Nice.

Had at the BGoA Winter tasting. Pours dark brown with minimal head. Slightly tart and sour fruity. Nice. Finishes dry.

Great beer. Very dark when poured. Strong wine esq grape nose. The flavor is complex with grapes, rich porter flavor, and a smooth wine barrel finish.

On tap at the Rackhouse in Sept. 2013. Pours a black with big brown head. Aroma of peppers and bitter chocolate. Medium carbonation and significant mouthefeel. Flavors of roasted malts, melba toast, roasted peppers, malt balls, papaya juice. Overall big and bold, tasty yet different.

750ml bottle. Pours a dark black with a very slight, red hue and a three inch tan head that slowly collapses. Taste is of roasted malt, smoke, fruit, grass, herb, vanilla, caramel, wood and dandelions. Similar aroma. Has a full body that coats the mouth. The finish is fruity, a bit dry and a touch bitter. Bridges the gap between beer and wine rather well. Nice!

750 in the mountains in Breckenridge. Pours dark brown with red tiny. Huge fluffy head he goes down to a lumpy medium layer. Nose is Carmel, Carmel, red wine, fruity yeast funk. Taste is Carnap syrup, hint of tartness, red win barrel, oak, harsh malt, funky bite. This is either a pretty bad beer or is slightly infected; I am leaning towards the later given the almost gushing pour and tart des.
