4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Sampled in a big bottle. Pours dark brown with a thin lacey head. A realy well crafted brew. Drinks down with complex malts and a nice aftertaste. Think but not too think. Great brew.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This is one of my least favorite barrel aged stouts and a rare miss from Odell. Lots of vanilla and some milky flavors accenting the chocolate here. Almost stale flavor. Lots of bourbon though...

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle at Darkness Day. Pour is dark brown with lots of bourbon on the nose. Flavor is bourbon, really bourbony, sweet and thin. some typical malt flavors come in late, pretty solid, but too bourbon forward for me.

2.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 9/20
Pours a medium thickness burnt umber color with two finger of gaseous khaki foam. The nose is roasted, charred and full of boozy earthy compost. the palate follows with a heavy char and bitter earth that doesnít mix very well with the bourbon notes. Disjointed and hard to swallow... thin and bitter.

1/12/2011: Odell Bourbon Barrel Stout... Aroma: Muted chocolate; dusting of cocoa; smells strong. Appearance: Milk chocolate/coffee color; frothy tan-colored head. Flavor: Weird... Weak milk chocolate; fruity; muted bourbon; some alcohol; vanilla; something seems off... Palate: Medium-full body; milky texture. Overall: Decent, nondescript; nothing to write home about...

3.2 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 12/20
More chocolate than bourbon itís very dark and tart. Better as it breathes but falls short of similar competitors.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
On draft at World of Beer - Tempe. I believe this was from a keg of 2010. Pours dark brownish-black with a dark tan head. Sweet nose of bourbon, caramel, and toffee. Taste of mellow bourbon (though itís still fairly hot) vanilla beans, and a heavy oak aftertaste. Slightly astringent. This is one of the rare barrel-aged imperial stouts that was much more enjoyable when fresh. I really hope Odell will brew it again someday (and perhaps figure out the infected bottle problem).

2.6 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 10/20
750mL from Zipps, um no. this is not good. Makers Mark bottles, but the base stout is no good, too much char and ash.. tobacco and leaves.. the bourbon is subdued but that brings out too much other flavors, super thin body too.. no thanks.
