Really nice and smooth porter. Big chocolate flavor and a dark finish that's not over powering. I'm not a big porter fan, this is pretty good though.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Aroma is roasted chocolate and coffee malts. A little bit of alcohol. Surprisingly sweet. Hint of bready malts.
Appearance is a dark brown with a big light brown head. Literally one of the most impressive head retentions I’ve ever seen. Lots of lacing.
Taste is the same as the aroma. Creamy, roasted coffee and chocolate. A little bit of smokiness as well.
Despite the creaminess, it remains a little thin for my taste.
Overall, a solid porter. Nothing out of the ordinary.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Nitro version; ruby-chocolate with beige latte foam. Dark roast, graham, raspberry aroma; lightly acerbic, lightly sweet, very quiet. Papery and ashy qualities surround the malts in dust. Husky dog biscuit notes also present, becoming prevalent.
Fruity tobacco flavor with generous depth for chocolate malts and dark pit fruits to find. Medium acidity in the coffee like notes. Clean presentation of malt throughout. Mild citrus hints here and there suggest quiet hops.
The washy palate allows the finish to be clean and straightforward, though at the expense of the fullness it might otherwise offer.

So my Raiders lost a tough one today against the Bills, 38-35. A thriller no doubt. To help ease the pain of that loss, was a few outstanding beers and this was one of ’em. Not quit porter/stout season, but this one was outstanding, even if it was 93 degrees outside.
The beer pours out an oily black body with a creamy, dense 2" thick head with great retention. Baker’s chocolate, anise, mocha, and tree bark in the aroma. Dark chocolate, light smoke, coffee/mocha, with just a right amount of black patent/ashyness without being acrid. Super creamy mouthfeel really rounds out the awesomeness of this beer. Top notch.
