COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Double Pilsner is our tribute to the pilsner style, heavily hopped but balanced with malt and refined on our 5-barrel system. Originally brewed in Bohemia, pilsners were the world's first clear golden lagers and the start of a dramatic revolution in brewing. Today, pilsners are still a revered part of Czech and German life and an inspiration to our brewers.

Pours a cloudy yellow with foamy white head; good lacing. Sweet malt and grassy hops on the nose. Rich barley malt with a healthy dose of bittering hops. Also notes of honey, biscuits and caramel. Meduim to full body. Alcohol kick. This is pretty good but isn’t terribly exciting.

pours clear and straw coloured with small head and good lacing; woody nose and a bit of fruit; bitter and dry but it tends to get a bit sweeter as it warms up to room temp.; sticky and a little creamy, nice carbonation, medium body on the big side. Sort of a contradiction in terms, reminds me more of a IIPA than a pilsner. I like it.

Bottle at home. Clear yellow golden colour, thin white head fades leaving some lacing. Nose is interesting - soft floral, quite a lot of caramel malt, hint of fresh hop. Palate starts dry and peppery, with some late grainy sweetness and a hint of honey. Peppery hop linger, but strangely chemical/soapy too. Not in a completely bad way. Fizzy alcohol warmth. An interesting beer, but not Odell’s best.

Hazy straw colour. The aroma is a lot of grain and straw. Some earthy bitterness but this is mostly about the malts. These are sweet and husky at the same time, and there is some alcohol in the finish.

I wasn’t all that excited about a hoppy pilsner, but had to try this just to see what it was like. I was quite surprised. It’s a very clean pilsner with just the right amount of hops to give a unique kick to an otherwise drab style. Being a pils I didn’t bother to look at the ABV and after I sucked down 3 of these on a hot summer evening I was feeling pretty good. Then I found out it’s 8.1% alcohol.

Bottle. Pale gold. Super grassy. Dry. It warms well. Good for this style. Nothing wrong with it.

To be honest this didn’t do too much for me. LOTS of noble hops on the nose, but really alcholic and a bit bland, even in the finish. Wouldn’t bother again.

Pours a thin gold with a white head that barely laces at all. Nose is of funky hay and a touch of tartness. A bit boozy for a pilsner dry crisp. Interesting but not amazing. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
