Sample at the Central OH BA Tasting at From The Vine on 06/02/2012: This beer is a hazy amber-copper color with a medium off-white head that diminishes steadily. Stringy lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, tropical fruit and oak. Medium-bodied with flavors of pineapple and citrusy hops plus some grainy malt and a touch of sweet honey. The finish is sweet and malty with a lingering fruity aftertaste. Above average overall.

750 ml bottle from Randall’s. Fun concept. Pours a cloudy, lighter yellow-gold color with an initial finger of cream-colored head that settles into a film and ring. Aroma of oak, fruity funk (pears), wheat, sweet malts, sugar, and a little hint of warming alcohol. The flavor presents the same slate of notes, with wheat, pears, oak, funk, sweet malts, and even some mild spice, perhaps from the peppers. Couldn’t pick out some of the other ingredients, like corn, wild rice, and honey. Medium-bodied, with a funky, sweet mouthfeel - a bit muddled - and moderate carbonation. Great idea for a beer, and I’d be interested to try a different blend because the execution of this one wasn’t quite up to expectations based on my reading of the label.

Bottle at a family tasting. Pours golden with some head. Flavor is very unique and sweet. It almost has a honey flavor to it. You can taste a lot of the different ingredients and it is quite complex. Surprisingly good.

750 ml. corked and caged bottle. Served at cellar temperature. Pours an enormous white head, with extensive lacing, over a very effervescent, slightly hazy gold (SRM 6) body.....nose is pine, light citrus, apple, pear...taste is light sweet, with touches of pepper, light fruits including pear, apple, finishing slightly sweet but with attendant phenolic spice bitterness....mouth feel medium to light, alcohol hidden, carbonation very high with continuing frothy head. Although this has been created with a melange of ingredients from a wide geographic area, it works. What has been created ends up being a Belgian Golden Strong Ale. It meets the BJCP criteria of that style almost to a "T". While this style is not the best of the Belgians, it still is more interesting than "Specialty Grain" as a title. BJCP 7/3/14/4/7

750 mL bottle. Pours lightly hazy and sparkling copper with a huge, fluffy white head, long retention with fair lacing. Aroma is earthy, herbal, and spicy hops, straw, meal, and biscuit malts, faint pepper and honey notes with light fruity esters. Flavor is spicy peppers, medium hops and bitterness, light alcohol, oak, fairly significant malt backbone and a dry, spicy finish. Full body, medium to high warmth, moderate carbonation.

Bottle from bird of paradise in Albuquerque. An interesting idea--ingredients from all the different locations they distribute to. Tastes like a hoppy tripel, like gnomegang. Green chiles also show up a bit. Complex, but not that complex. Good. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Poured from a 750ml bottle. I found this to have fruity notes. There is a slight tartness, some grain, lots of tropical fruitiness. Very interesting.

Sampled at an esbls tasting. Lightly hazed golden with a white head. A sweet grainy honey nose. An interesting flavor profile. Wheat, cloves, honey, soft hops. Interesting.
