4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 noturdadsbeer (25) - centennial, Colorado, USA - MAR 30, 2011
Poured from 750ml bottle into red wine glass at Euclid Hall.
A: Pours a dark granite red with cranberry colored head. Head recedes very fast and is hard to get back. Carbonation is quite lively and robust.
S: Tart cherries and raspberries unfold with hints oak and balsamic. Intense and delicious is what this beer screams.
T: Huge tartness, not sourness. Cherries are dominate and the raspberries mellow it out. The oak is very present but it’s not out of place. Very invigorating. Touch of sour but way more tart than sour in my opinion.
M: Medium bodied but lightly coats the palate. Back of palate really gets working with the tart fruit causing you to salivate from each sip. The finish is smooth and lingers.
D: Great beer by Odells. Definitely one of the best I’ve ever had by them. While I expected sweeter fruit and more sour, it was the opposite and I liked it. Balanced softer fruit with more tart notes. Great summer beer, first beer, or desert beer.

750ml bottle purchased at Total Wine, Gilbert, AZ. Pours a dirty pink, with small white head and little carbonation. Aroma is cherries, subdued raspberries, oaky, vinous, sour and some funk. Taste is sweet & sour, tart, cherries, raspberries in background and wood. The sourness is subtle, producing an easy-to-drink ale. Refreshing, with a tart, slightly sour, dry finish. This is a really good ale.

Pours ruby red with a head that lasts for a fraction of a second. Looks like soda pop. The nose is intense cherry, raspberry, vanilla, vinegar and funk! Taste is very sweet but the sour balances this beer nicely. The oak adds a very subtle vanilla flavor that blends well. The mouthfeel is crisp and clean, light body and a long finish. Very good

Tap at Odell - sits somewhere in between a sour ale and a really tart fruit beer - light raspberry color - nose is lambic-ish, with a fair amount of acetic character, light phenols, strong raspberry character, damp wood - the kriek aspect really comes through in the flavor - strong tart cherry and some spices - fruit skin earthiness - moderate acidity - a bit of brine quality through the middle - a bit of funky barnyard stuff happening on the tail end - not getting strong oak, but it is there - dry finish - quite good, really.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 TomDecapolis (4231) - Lawrence, Kansas, USA - FEB 24, 2013
Pours a lightly hazy golden amber with a medium bubbly pinkish white head that went away fairly quickly. Aroma of cherries, oak and funk! While the funk is less "sour" and more barnyard I liked how it came across with the fruit and wood. Flavor of tart cherries, oak, vanilla, the wood really lingers. There is some sourness coming through and that same "funk" that was in the nose.

Bottle, shared with Dave on the momentous occasion of his 40th birthday celebration. Very hazy bright ruby body with a rapidly receding pink head. Aroma is pleasantly sour and full of tart cherry and unripened berry notes. Flavours are equally tart cherry and tart raspberry, moderately intense lactic acidity and sourness. Woody dryness in the finish. Another terrific brew from Odell.
