3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20 talon1117 (1011) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - NOV 17, 2006
Growler from brewery. Pours a hazy, orange-amber color with an off-white, decent sized, pillowy head which is mostly lasting, and leaves some nice lacing. Fruity nose; grapefruit and tangerine hops with lighter notes of pine. Faint caramel sweetness and some yeast too, one of the more intriguing IPA noses. Flavor is loaded with hops plenty of pine and resin attack the tongue first with the citrus finding its way into the flavor profile with a dinstinct tangerine note. I was hoping for more malt notes after the nose, but they are very subdued with only faint caramel sweetness and light touch of toastiness. (It is an IPA, so I can’t be too disappointed.) Palate is lively, medium-light, and crisp. Finishes with the moderately high bitterness taking over with the tangerine note lingering. Nice IPA and maybe my favorite brew from Odell. The fruity characteristics really support the beer and create a well done IPA (this coming from a non-hophead!)
3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 luckygirl (1221) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - JUL 25, 2006
Draught at the brewery. The beer was a clear, medium caramel color with a small, frothy, off-white, mostly and quickly diminishing head. The aroma was malty with moderate notes of toasted grain, cookie, caramel and bread crust; Hoppy with light notes of resin/pine, light-to-moderate notes of vivid cedar, light floral note.Very woodsy and earthy—quite nice; Light miscellaneous notes of wood and rose The flavor is moderately acidic, lightly-to-moderately bitter, lightly-to-moderately sweet, converts to a long finish with a quick grippy flash and then becomes lightly-to-moderately astringent, lightly bittersweet finish. The body is medium, the texture is velvety, the carbonation is lively.

Thx to Crosling for this one.
Goregeous pour: Fiery red/brown with a nice white head, it’s great to look at. The aroma is mildly hoppy.
The flavor is citric hoppy.
2.6 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 Ernest (5116) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - DEC 5, 2004
UPDATED: JUL 22, 2006 Head is mostly diminishing.
Body is medium amber.
Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (resin, grapefruit), lightly to moderately yeasty (dough), with a note of bubble gum.
Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter.
Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately bitter.
Medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation.
Boring, simple. Had this when it was called Hip Hop Hooray in Dec 04 (again on the pilot system) and my rating is almost exactly the same in description (without looking at the old rating first, of course), right down to the bubble gum ester. Being slightly less forgiving with my score this time, though. This isn’t ready for bottling yet, IMHO.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Murphy (1759) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - DEC 4, 2004
Wow! Great hop aroma. Don’t know what hop they used, but it’s something you don’t see too much of in beers this hoppy. Solid mouthfeel. Golden color. Palate is an earthy, herbal hoppiness that is very strong. Finally a great beer from Odell.
4.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20 Crosling (1861) - Loveland, Colorado, USA - DEC 2, 2004
1/2 Gallon growler. Another beer off Odell’s pilot system and another beer to add onto my Odell dominance on the site. Toasted auburn. Subtle, hop driven aroma with a touch of caramel and pine cones. Incredible feel and warmth on the palate. Creamy as hell. Incredibly balanced. The malts are biscuit-like up front then they meld into a lovely, bready, caramel like flavor. The hop flavor is aggressive as hell but it has much more flavor than bitterness. Fruity, apricot like with pine and a touch of tangerine. A unique and delicious IPA.
