BlackForestCO (549), Fort Collins and Black Forest, Colorado, USA Mar 19, 2008 On tap at the brewery. Poured a deep red-amber color with ruby highlights and an off-white head that left excellent lacing. Aroma of light caramel malts, a hint of nuttiness, some peat, and light hops. Flavor consists mostly of light caramel and chocolate malts, with undertones of peat and a nice lightly hoppy finish that balances the beer well. They described this as being double-hopped with bittering hops and triple hopped with finishing hops, flavor doesn’t exactly taste that hoppy, but I think it works better the way it is. Smooth, creamy, and easy-drinking. I was tempted to buy a growler and enjoy some more at home.
