3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
bottle poured an amber color with a big foamy off white head that retained well. aroma has pine, resins, light citrus, a bit of sweetness, and a fairly well malted body. mouth feel is hefty and it coats the tongue well with a higher side carbonation. flavor has chewy hops but the hefty malted base keeps up. pines, firm bitterness, citrus touches, good sweetness, and a lingering finish.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
750 c&c from Ace in Boulder, CO. Pours copper with a foamy 3 finger beige/off-white head. The hop aroma is huge. Mostly pine/resin with a little background grapefruit. Hard to be sure. There’s a lot of hop. Medium body with mild carbonation. Flavor starts with pine (maybe) but certainly seems to go to grapefruit, and then some roast malt creeps in. Got to be the hoppiest barley wine I’ve ever had. It would be right at home in the PNW.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle: Poured an orange amber color with a big head. The aroma was citrus, grapefruit, sweet caramel malts. The flavor was sweet, malty, hops, and citrus. There wasn’t as much ’dark fruit’ that is usually present in most barley wines, but this one was a winner in my eyes.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle from DYCSoccer17, thanks. Pours a hazy dark orange with almost no head or carbonation. Aroma is intense with tons of caramel and toffee, plus piney and woody hops. Sweetish, initially somewhat roasty flavors moves to piney hops flavors with a warming, dusty finish, very lightly carbonated.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
750ml. Pours murky orange with overly huge frothy white head that quickly shrinks to one finger. Tons of American c-hop in nose, orange juice citrus and light pine come out the most, medium caramel malt. Sweet, but not overly so, and hop spicy upfront. More of an IIPA than a BW but great nonetheless.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Got to try this thanks to "hannont". Colour... cloudy orange with a thick head. Nose... piney hops and toffee. Palate... pretty dang hoppy for a barley wine! This one is like a barley wine masquerading as an Imp IPA! Scads of citrus and pine and a very coating, cloying character.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle, shared with Parksy. Pours a dark orange amber with lots of schmegma particles falling into the glass at the end of the pour, turning it cloudy. Head is big and foamy and stays forever. This beer is malt dominated for sure, loads of chewy toffee, sticky piney hop character, some grapefruit rind. Big and chewy, nicely hoppy as promised.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pours a orange gold, light haze .. . aroma of hot hops, citrus, and caramel .. . a hoppy BW, has a few different levels to it .. . toffee is a big player .. . A nice brew, quite unique .. . I’m sorry I can’t help myself. That movie has warped my fragile little mind.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750mL bottle, 2009 vintage. Poured an eerie shade of clear reddish-brown with a dense cap of off-white head. The aroma picked up bright, fresh citrus and grassy hoppage over sweet bready and caramel maltage.. some medium-skinned fruits joined as it warmed up.. almost great, but there was a medicinal twang that didn’t quite let it get there. The flavor found more of the bread and fruity sweetness at the core, with slightly darker fruits and a hint of vanilla extending outward.. spicy citrus and peppery notes surrounded, and played fairly well with the alcohol warmth on the finish.. overall tasty stuff. Medium-plus bodied and vibrant on the palate with the hops leaving quite an impression.. in the end, the malt bill didn’t hold up well enough., long and spicy finish. I’d drink it again, but it wasn’t what I was hoping for.
