COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Available each winter from the first of November until it runs out, Isolation ale is amber in color, malty and strong. We consider it a traditional winter warmer, without the addition of fruits or spices.

12oz bottle into Tulip. Minneapolis. Appearance: Copper colored with a hint of ruby. Transparency is somewhere between hazy and cloudy. Significant off-white head. Aroma: Molasses, raisiny, malty. Pretty subtle. Taste: A mild sweetness upfront which transforms into bitterness in the finish. Palate: Medium body with a oily texture. Pretty soft carbonation. Overall: Overall: A nice beer, but a little underwhelming in most categories. Would have liked a lot more flavor and a lot less sweetness. The maltiness was a bit too much much for me, and really built over the course of the beer. A decent beer but not very memorable.

appearance: very clear copper color with a beige head, the head pours pretty big but settles into a smaller head that retains nicely aroma: caramel, malty, honey, butter, pretty sweet, grapes even taste: strong malt throughout, some hop bitterness is in there too, kind of sweet and very smooth palate: lots of froth which i wasn’t expecting but I like, average carbonation, slight bitter aftertaste overall: awesome mouthfeel on this one, I’m impressed with the execution of this style (malty), would be a good session beer

Pours a reddish amber color. Notes of dirt, brown sugar, stale hops, and figs.

12 oz bottle. Appearance: small head, slightly off-white head, good lacing, cloudy copper-red color. Aroma: nutty, caramel, fruit (cherries), slight hoppy resin, hay. Palate: medium body, creamy texture, lively carbonation, brief finish. Taste: good balance of bitterness and sweetness up front and through taste, light sour finish. Overall, very well balanced beer that is pretty bold with hops and malts; really enjoyable and unique, but not anything to die for.

I’m generally weary of winter seasonals because it seems like there’s always an abundance of “spices” and other bullshit I don’t like. This is a very straight-forward english-style ale with a smooth hoppy finish. Doesn’t taste like cinnamon or coriander or pumpkin or any of that horrible shit that seems to come with cold weather. 12 oz. bottle. Pours clear copper with a nice soapy tight off white head that settles to a thin soapy film. Aroma has English malt some herbal hops a faint fig raisin. Taste has nice spice that reminds me of the holidays along with plenty of English malt and subtle fruit like fig plum hidden throughout. Palate is medium with a sticky chalky finish. Pretty good.

Bottle bought from Beermoth Manchester. Pours a clear brown/red colour with a thin but long lasting head. Aroma is dominated by caramel but there’s definitely citrus hiding in the back. Taste is sweet, caramel and malty with a tickling of floral hoppiness to boot. Not exactly a winter warmer but enjoyable nonetheless.

A reddish copper ale with a thin mocha head. In aroma, sweet caramel malt with corky character, floral hops. In mouth, a nice caramel malt with grassy floral hops, more British, treacle,, OK. On tap at Filmbar.

Type: Draft Glass: Pint glass From: Old Chicago in Boise, Idaho Price: N/A Purchased: Dec. 17, 2013 Consumed: Dec. 17, 2013 Misc.: N/A Poured an auburn murky color with 1-to-2 fingers (when I got it) of white head. Layered spider web lacing. Below average retention. Smelled caramel red malts, toffee, smooth spices, Rye hops and iced tea. Not much like a winter warmer. Tasted amber malts, iced tea, caramel, toffee, toasted nuts and slightly bitter. Medium body. Thin texture. Average carbonation. Abrupt finish. A pretty good beer, although I wouldn’t exactly call it a winter warmer. Tasty though.

Probably my least favorite Odell’s brew. Not a lot going on for me. Amber color, slight caramel. Not enough hops for my liking.
