Coppery reddish pour with a thin head. Nose is raisins, apples, caramel, and alcohol. Fruitier than expected. Taste is malts, toast, and dark fruits. Medium body and carbonation. Not spicy like other winter beers, but really good.

12oz bottle from Lukas Liquors, best by 1/24/12. Clear orange with a small yellowish head, fading to a thick ring and small swirls of film rather quickly. Aroma is dominated by toasty nutty caramel malts, a touch of vanilla, and some light herbal hops. The flavor is a little hoppier and woodier with a tinge of pine, otherwise it’s pretty malt-forward with the aforementioned flavors. Finishes semi-dry, bitterness peaking around a 2-3, and earthy. Pretty well balanced--not too sweet at all. Burps some pine. Low smooth carbonation with a medium body. Pretty good.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 brenn79 (859) - Idaho, USA - NOV 12, 2011
12 oz. bottle- Pours semi cloudy with a little sediment floating around and a nice rocky head. The aroma is malt, hops, wort, a little spice, pepper or something, not bad. The taste is malty and bitter, chewy, I can’t believe they don’t use spices, because it tastes mildly spicy similar to the aroma. This is a big beer, much bigger than the 6.1% would suggest. The body is full and thick, carbonation is low, an amazing feat getting such a robust beer to be only 6.1% alcohol.
3.4 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 Travlr (4551) - Washington, Washington DC, USA - NOV 12, 2011
Bottle. Hazy amber color, small off white head. Aroma of sour summer fruit and rising bread dough. Taste is bitter butterscotch and light spice. Not bad.
