Aroma has some light caramel, toasted breadiness, and a lightly tart, citrusy, and faintly earthy hop combination. Medium amber in color, lots of effervescence feeding the moderately frothy head. Flavor starts off with some caramel sweetness, mingling with some faintly tart dried apple/pear fruitiness and a light, piney hop bitterness. Medium bodied, palate is fairly smooth. Pleasant enough and actually surprisingly subtle character but I do find myself wishing it was more assertive, both in malt and hop flavors.

Sweet and malty, not surprisingly. I caught a bit of a spicy edge, despite the commercial disclaimer to the contrary. Very plain; really not much more than a slightly malty EPA.

Not strong. Not bitter at all. Not distinguishable. Ok head. Weak body, flavor (what there is of it) doesn't last

Had it on New Years Eve. Malty and heady with some spice. I like.

Bright amber color with large fizzy head. Stong grapefruity aroma with notes of pine resin and a possible hint of tar. Somewhat candyish or toffeeish in aroma as well, but not in a bocky way. Surprisingly mild flavor with subdued hop flavors (piney) and a nonintrusive malt presence. Light finishing bitterness. Balanced and smooth.

Sweet aftertaste, slightly bitter. Not much stands out. I didnt feel warmer after this beer, and frankly, I wouldnt want to be isolated with only a case of this piss.

UPDATED: DEC 26, 2003 Woodsy, toast-like nose. Medium bodied with a moderate carbonation. Quite a bit of burntness in the malts, especially in the aftertaste. Overall, rather malty but not very hoppy. I like that they're making a "Winter" ale without spices or fruit, but they've gotta pump up the hops a bit more, in my opinion. Has just a hint of chocolate and caramel in the sweetness. Some bitter hops come out in the roasty finish, but they don't present themselves in the flavor or aroma profiles. Not bad at all, but not intriguing by any means.

One of the good things I have to say about this beer is that the O’Dells rep gave me a bottle for free when I was loading up for the weekend at Liquormart last Friday afternoon. Light brown color, quickly diminishing head. Kind of a wood-scented aroma. Light carbonation, light body, slightly bitter finish.

I think the name of this beer reflects where they left the flavor.

UPDATED: OCT 18, 2007 2007 bottle. Head is initially small, frothy, off-white, mostly diminishing. Body is dark amber. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (caramel, cookie, wort), lightly hoppy (grapefruit). Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly to moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, watery/syrupy texture, lively carbonation. A bit simple, and kind of raw (has that worty brewhouse smell in the background), but not bad.
