Available each winter from the first of November until it runs out, Isolation ale is amber in color, malty and strong. We consider it a traditional winter warmer, without the addition of fruits or spices.

Bottled. Pours an amber color with a beige white/orange head. Aroma is caramel, some English style malts, mild hop Aroma. Flavor is sweet caramel, hops, little bit of orange and lemon peel. Not bad. Nothing remarkable.

Caramelly, bready on the aroma. Flavor is more crusty bread, toasty, biscuity, mild herbaceous noble hop. Really nice, balanced winter warmer.

At LS Taps & Caps. Hazy amber with a little off-white head. Not a big aroma. The description says without fruit or spices. Seems to need something more. Just okay. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Bottle - rusty red with a medium head. Has a medium dry, malty, toasty taste and is boozy. And it did seem a little spicy. Ok beer but not something I’d seek out again.

Bottle. Pours a clear, lambent red-brown with a high, beige head. Nose is wood, spice, tea, and umami notes. Sweeter on the tongue than on the nose, with caramel, chocolate, black tea, and treacle in the forefront, followed by a tannic bitterness. Finish is long, a little warm, with more wood and a touch of vanilla. Nice to have a winter warmer that’s not pretending to be a cookie or a fruitcake.

Odell’s Isolation Ale is a gorgeous beer to look at and a decent brew to taste. The color is a clear shade of copper with a snowy head. Aroma isn’t big but it has a nice balance of bread-like malts and floral hops. Flavor is definitely malt-forward. Caramel comes through clearly with some subtle fruitiness in the background. Feel is smooth but not remarkable. While there are holiday brews I get more excited about, I would happily drink Isolation Ale while occupying a remote hotel, looking at the snow-capped Rocky mountains, venturing into Room 237, and developing a fascination with axes. Bottle. A- Malts, caramel, bread, grains. A- Dark amber color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Malty, subtle hops, roasty, earthy, pine. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, malty finish. O- Definitely got more disappointing as it warmed. Not a lot of depth and really malty. Not for me.

Bottle: The pour is absolutely gorgeous… deep amber and a thick, creamy tan head. Nice sheet lacing. At first, I thought it smelt like sawdust, but it passed. Deep toffee, woody, earthy, and nutty bits. Rich and inviting. Taste is a little more on the earthy side, some florals and wood. Lightly metallic. Loses a bit from the nose. Lighter in body, which is ok, but the flavor doesn’t stick.
