COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Available each winter from the first of November until it runs out, Isolation ale is amber in color, malty and strong. We consider it a traditional winter warmer, without the addition of fruits or spices.

Rich chocolate character. Subtle hops. Good malt flavor. Solid winter brew in terms of mellow flavor and nice spice and hops

Bottle. Pours a clear, lambent red-brown with a high, beige head. Nose is wood, spice, tea, and umami notes. Sweeter on the tongue than on the nose, with caramel, chocolate, black tea, and treacle in the forefront, followed by a tannic bitterness. Finish is long, a little warm, with more wood and a touch of vanilla. Nice to have a winter warmer that’s not pretending to be a cookie or a fruitcake.

Odell’s Isolation Ale is a gorgeous beer to look at and a decent brew to taste. The color is a clear shade of copper with a snowy head. Aroma isn’t big but it has a nice balance of bread-like malts and floral hops. Flavor is definitely malt-forward. Caramel comes through clearly with some subtle fruitiness in the background. Feel is smooth but not remarkable. While there are holiday brews I get more excited about, I would happily drink Isolation Ale while occupying a remote hotel, looking at the snow-capped Rocky mountains, venturing into Room 237, and developing a fascination with axes. Bottle. A- Malts, caramel, bread, grains. A- Dark amber color, clear liquid, off white head. T- Malty, subtle hops, roasty, earthy, pine. P- Medium body, average texture, average carbonation, malty finish. O- Definitely got more disappointing as it warmed. Not a lot of depth and really malty. Not for me.

Bottle: The pour is absolutely gorgeous… deep amber and a thick, creamy tan head. Nice sheet lacing. At first, I thought it smelt like sawdust, but it passed. Deep toffee, woody, earthy, and nutty bits. Rich and inviting. Taste is a little more on the earthy side, some florals and wood. Lightly metallic. Loses a bit from the nose. Lighter in body, which is ok, but the flavor doesn’t stick.

12oz bottle. Pours a nice deep amber color with a tan head and good lacing, sticky. You can tell there is some hops in the aroma, but they’re floral varieties I think. The taste is quite good, lots of biscuit, some caramel, and a little hop bite -- all the spiciness of this beer comes from the hops instead of added spices. Good winter warmer, a little different, but good!

Bottle. Red orange with a thin white cap. Caramel, herbal hops, mineral water and bread. Taste is lightly sweet with a dry plantlike bitterness. Body is lighter with a fizzy feel.

Bottle pours a beautiful red-mahogany color with a huge, persistent, rootbeer float head. Caramel malt, earthy low hop profile on the nose. Palate is English malts, ending in a mildly bitter finish. Overall, okay beer that’s far from great.
