Appearance: pours a healthy 2" sudsy cream colored head. Recedes slowly leaving decent lacing. Color is deep amber, slightly cloudy, with moderate carbonation. Aroma: strong malt presence with raisins, caramel, and whole wheat bread. A bit of earthy hops in the background. Mouthfeel: standard fluffy English ale mouthfeel, fairly light bodied with a somewhat dry finish. Flavor: a hearty brew. The malt dominates (as expected) with those raisin, caramel, and whole wheat bread (toasted) flavors leading the way. There is also a moderate hop presence in the middle and finish and a bit of lingering alcohol burn with the swallow. Delicious and well made ale.

Poured from the bottle into a pint glass to drink. The beer had a cloudy amber color with some sediment and a creamy tan head with good retention. Its aroma featured a blend of caramel and barley malt along with some lighter grainy and grassy hops. The taste was lightly sweet and malty with a bit of coffee, along with some modest bitter and sour grainy tones. It was a fairly wet and watery beer with a lighter mouthfeel and lower carbonation.

12oz bottle from jcwatts, Cheers John. Poured a muddy light orange-amber with a small dense foamy head of light beige. Aroma of old hops, wet toast, earth and old citrus fruit. Flavor is grains, dough, toast crust, fruity esters towards the end. Medium body with bubbly carbonation and a quicker fading aftertaste.

Dark amber with large off white head. Nice lacing. Very light malty sweet aroma, carmel. Bread and carmel flavor with some piney bite. Almost no carbonation gives a smooth and slightly creamy mouthfeel. Some bitter malt aftertaste, but not off putting. Good beer. Some alcohol flavor, but not a strong beer at all.

Bottle from the Fall/Winter 2015 Montage pack. Pours a deep amber with a persistent half-inch of cream head. Aroma is roasted malts, dark fruit, sugary. Taste is a great balance between piney and floral bitterness and a great deep biscuity malt. Hints of sweet stone fruits. A great somewhat lower ABV winter ale.

Amber with small head, light aroma of caramel, taste of caramel with some mild pine hops. Very well balanced brew and light bodied making it a chggable beer. My bottle shows a 6.1% ABV but still a respectable kick level for a brew such as this. Would like to buy this in my area by the 12 packs but could only find it in a sampler pack this year.
