3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 GarrettB (787) - La Jolla, California, USA - SEP 15, 2012
Summer 2011 - It’s a day in Ft. Collins, and first up is O’Dell. And first up from O’Dell is their Kölsch. It features a thick, pillowy head with ample carbonation, and redolent with crystal and pils malt aromas. The beer proudly offers this same taste on the first sip, but cuts quick with a refreshing hop bite - a perfect way to start a day of beer tasting! A fluffy beer on the mouth, and light, and a lot of that mineral, carbonate taste that features so strongly in this category. A good, solid beer, a fine start to the day, and a nice staple to contrast with O’Dell’s more flamboyant beers.

On tap @ Odell Brewery. Clear pale gold, corny wheaty aroma with a slight citric fruitiness. Taste was bready and toasty, with a bunch of fresh dough on the start, but finished softly citric. Pleasant and drinkable. But still very much a light bodied kolsh. Decent attempt, but still not a fan.
