You know those epic days that start with an idea, turn into a dare and end with a great story to tell? This is the beer for those days. Crisp and refreshing like any respectable session ale, but a bit more hop-forward and flavorful than some. Perfect for going with the flow.

UPDATED: APR 11, 2014 12 oz bottle. Aroma consists of latex, citrus powder drink, tropical fruit, dusty basement. Pours clear golden with a big fluffy white head with excellent retention; leaves some funky lacework. Taste starts out sweet before quickly turning bitter; a bit biscuity. Thin bodied and highly carbonated, which is what you want in a session beer--at least I do. Not bad, even with the weird aroma.

Pours clear lemon-straw into the glass with a wispy head that leaves a thin ring of suds. The nose has a touch of grassiness, subdued. Flavors are cereal, lemon essence and a touch of grains, finishing with a light grassiness. Sparkling mouthfeel, active with a medium-light body. Well-balanced and perfect for summer, this is a session brew that gets the point across nicely. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Very pale cear gold pour with a small white head. Not much in the nose-- cereal malt and very faint grassy hops. Light body, slightly soft. Mineral, somewhat yeasty. Mild hop bite mid to late palate. Tastes like an average pils. There are better choices for a session IPA.

I imagine Odell Loose Leaf is a divisive beer for drinkers that have jumped onto the hoppy session beer bandwagon. Drinking it gave me two minds. In one mind, I loved its balance and drinkability. In the other, I wanted more hops. We’ll address that struggle in time. First, appearance. Loose Leaf pours hazy yellow with a fluffy head. Aroma reveals biscuit malt and some earthy yeast. There’s a dank hop note in there, but it’s buried under the other smells. Now, the flavor dilemma. Loose Leaf’s smooth malt body is a show-stealer. The hops? Not as much. I like the mild tropical note from the hops and their grassy flavors. (Yes, there is a certain fresh, leafy taste.) On the whole, though, I wanted more from the hops. I get that this beer’s balance and refreshing taste would be enough to put some people on cloud 9, but what can I say? I love my hops.

Sampled 6/21/2015. This session IPA pours a light yellow gold color from a 12oz bottle. Small to medium sized white foamy head. The aroma is malty, floral and herbal, a touch of sweetness, but mostly hoppy A light bodied ‘session’ IPA. The malts are fruity and sweet. The hops are herbal and citrusy. Nice carbonation. A decent session ale. Lots of flavor for the amount of alcohol, it might suffer a little in body because of that alcohol level, but I will accept the trade off. Nice beer after a hot day. Mouthfeel is full. Finish is clean and crisp. Aftertaste is slightly bitter.

12 oz pour from chilled bottle into nonic pint. Dark yellow and clear with a great fluffy white head and awesome lacing. Medium body. Creamy. A little oil finish. Nose is pine forest. Taste is similar with a little orange sweetness. Fairly unobtrusive. A bit bitter. Solid session beer.

I’m always looking for a decent session ale. I would rate this as mediocre. The best thing about it is its appearance - beautiful pale golden pour with an excellent head. There’s just something a little off - it goes from pleasant to skunky and back and forth. If you want a great, drinkable session ale, try New Belgium’s Slow Ride.

Bottle from Liz. Pours translucent gold with a slight white head. Aroma seems floral/noble. Med minus body. Flavor is lightly malty with a pretty decent dose of hop - which seems to be grassy/floral. Not all that strong, but decent. Take it to the lake!

Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. Hazy pale straw coloured with a thin white foamy head. It has a grassy, toffee and malty flavour followed by gentle floral citrus notes and a creamy vanilla finish.
