If youíve ever been to our brewery, youíve likely seen the old, beat-up truck that hauls away our spent grain. That truck belongs to Lugene, whoís been feeding his dairy cows the hearty malt for over a decade. Named in his honor, Lugene Chocolate Milk Stout is brewed with milk sugar and milk chocolate. The rich and creamy brew reminds us of a cold glass of chocolate milk and our hometown "Aggie" roots.

355ml bottle from Ales by Mail

Pours pitch black with a small white head. Aroma of chocolate malts, roastiness, hints of syrup and sweet lactic notes. Taste is sweet, malty and roasty with hints of dark chocolate, lactic notes and syrup. Finish is sticky, malty and chocolatey with notes of syrup and cocoa. Okay, quite sweet and lactic imperial stout, but still feels surprisingly balanced.

33cl bottle from Appellation Wines. This is a chocolate milkshake with alcohol added. Very unusual and very interesting but Iím not sure I necessarily want another and thatís the true test of a good beer. Other people love it but I donít think itís for me, Iím probably being old fashioned.

Black pour with a very off putting scummy head. It reminds me of the sewage works down the road.strong rum, hard liquor aroma. Milky texture with bitter hints. Chocolate flavour. Almosr like a strong Baileys. Strange but interesting beer. Looks gross, doesnt taste to bad but overall not great.

Bottle at The Local Pub, Halandri Aroma: Earthy, mineral, sweetish aroma with an appetizing touch of chocolate. Mouthfeel: Full-bodied and silky smooth. Taste: Syrupy-sweet, phenolic and a little tart. Flavour remniscent of liquorice. Finish: Sweet, warm and astringent. A little smokey, too. I think the finish is the best part. Overall: Not my fave, but still, this beer has character.

UPDATED: AUG 10, 2013 Bottle at home from drinkstore.Dark cola brown with yellow tinged head. Rich red apples, licorice and black cherry. Medium carbonation, fairly light bodied, chocolatey, bitter coffee, plums. Complex but not a milk stout. Long licorice, sweet finish. Hmm not sure, far too sweet but not the usual lactose.

Pours dark brown with basically no head. Smells like a chocolate malt. Tastes like lightly bitter chocolate milk.

33 cl bottle.
Pours very dark red-brown color with a small, instantly disappearing biege head, seems quite fizzy too leaving a nice sugary layer on the glass. Aroma has milky chocolate, some fruity dark malts and caramel. Flavor is quite chocolaty too, faint vanilla, caramel malts and lingering fruityness on the finish. Strong carbonation, creamy, roasty, sugary and chocolaty palate. Could have been a bit heavier on the body and a bit less carbonated, still quite nice though.

Bottle from Cotteridge Wines, Birmingham. Poured a deep mahogany colour with no head and no life at all. The aroma is rich malty with a little dairy. The flavour is medium to weak bitter with some liqourice,, weak chocolate and roasted malt. Very tasty, but not worth the high rating IMO.
