COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
If you’ve ever been to our brewery, you’ve likely seen the old, beat-up truck that hauls away our spent grain. That truck belongs to Lugene, who’s been feeding his dairy cows the hearty malt for over a decade. Named in his honor, Lugene Chocolate Milk Stout is brewed with milk sugar and milk chocolate. The rich and creamy brew reminds us of a cold glass of chocolate milk and our hometown "Aggie" roots.

Bottle: Black with a light brown head. Sweet aroma of chocolate, milk, almonds and perhaps Whoppers. Sweet flavors abound of the obvious chocolate as well as root beer and licorice. Thin body and feel. Quite a treat!

I love the milkiness on this beer. So dark and delicious. Great job on this milk stout. Can't wait till I get to drink again.

From a 12 fl oz / 355mL bottle into a tasting glass. Aroma: Coffee, and very, very dark chocolate. Appearance: Opaque dark brown. Taste: Lots of espresso. More espresso than chocolate milk, really. Good stuff though. Palate: Exceptionally smooth and creamy. The milk sugar really smooths this out. You have to try it to understand. This beer really is milky. Overall: I was expecting a more milk chocolate flavor, but this is really espresso-heavy. It’s incredibly good though, and the flavors are wonderful, and the smoothness is mind-blowing.

This is everything a chocolate milk stout should be! This deep, dark brown beer could count for a meal beginning with the slightly bitter chocolate aroma and finishing with a full-bodied, dark chocolate and malt drink that is so quenching it requires one to taste each sip individually to appreciate its complexity. Perhaps the best milk stout I’ve had. I actually appreciate its carbonation and the wee bitterness provided by the rich dark chocolate flavor (not artificial at all), for without it I would surely consume this too quickly and too often.

Poured pitched black into a tulip with a tan head dissipating quickly. Aroma has a nice bitter chocolate with a hint of coffee and roasted malts. I was not prepared for the amount of chocolate that was going to hit the tongue but the palate on this is incredible. A chocolate milk stout, without question. This beer is dominated by bittersweet chocolate, heat is detected well after the finish but so smooth for 8.5%. Mouthfeel is almost thick with a creamy finish.

10 ounce sample on tap at Mellow Mushroom in Denver. Sweet, sugary, cocoa-chocolate aroma present. Light roast and vanilla, too. Mostly opaque dark mahogany body with a small-medium light tan head. Starts with sweet, chocolate, sugary maltiness. Some vanilla character comes through in the middle. Finishes with more sugary chocolate. Reminds me of a chocolate-covered cherry. Kind of cloying, but flavorful.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a dark black with a one inch dark tan head. Taste is of chocolate, milk, roasted malt, smoke and some vanilla. Similar, clean aroma. Has a a creamy body, with a touch of warming alcohol. Easy to drink and rather enjoyable.

Pours dark brown, with a tan head. Aroma of milk chocolate, notes of malt. Taste is sweet and chcolately. Not quite as complex or rich I’d like, but maybe I’m trying to make this into an Imperial. It is smooth, creamy, and very drinkable. A good beer, and I’d give it a clear ’thumbs up’.

Comes out of the bottle dark with a thin tan head. Smells like milk chocolatey goodness, and some coffee. It tasted much darker and a little more bitter than I had expected, nor as creamy. Chocolate flavor is like a dark hershey’s bar. Moderate sweetness and bitterness. Overall a good beer, but I think some other local CO chocolate/milk stout’s top it.

The aroma smells quite strongly of chocolate and lightly of roasted malts without the overall aroma being overwhelming, and the color of the beer is pure black with nearly no head (with what exists being tan). The taste of this beer is an indulgent mixture of slightly umami, slightly bitter, and quite sweet; furthermore, the palate combines a soft carbonation, full body, oily texture, and a long finish.
