Odell is the it brewery as of late. They are prolific, putting a new brew every day. The Lugene is a good brew. Chocolaty aroma. Soft head. Foamy and frothy. Sweet. Maybe a bit too rich. It needs more bitterness to balance the chocolate. Overall a good brew.

4.8 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 10/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 20/20
Odellís crafted something amazing with Lugene. It may be the ultimate dessert beer. While I wanted this a beer to be just a bit headier, the black color is phenomenal. Lugene smells like rich malt, spicy cocoa, and booze. However, you wonít find any of the latter in the flavor. I was astounded to learn that this stout had an of ABV 8.5%. You donít notice the alcohol until it warms your stomach. The flavors are just unreal. It starts with spicy cocoa, roasted malt , and dark chocolate, then finishes with milk chocolate, and last of all, chocolate milk. Yes, milk chocolate and chocolate milk are mutually exclusive. It has to be tasted to be believed. The sweetness sticks to the palate and the roof of the mouth. Lugene has a fantastically creamy mouthfeel, though I did find the carbonation to be a bit strong. Bested only by Samuel Smithís Organic Chocolate Stout, Lugene is an exceptional treat.

Chocolate milk for grown-ups, a sweet stout that is truly sweet. A fairly thick beer, though not as thick as Guinness. Sweet enough to satisfy an intense sweet tooth and replace dessert.

4.1 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 17/20
The beer is dark brown but looks black in the glass. Aroma is predominantly chocolate with just a touch of roasted malts. The taste is sweet and chocolatey. I get a hint of coffee in the aftertaste. Medium body. I love milk stouts, and this one is outstanding.

3.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Very dark brown with minimal head. Slightly sweet palate with alcohol burn to roof of mouth. Good balance and full body. Probably too sweet and cloying to drink more than one.

3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from StarmoreBoss, Sheffield. Clear, darkest brown. No head. Sweet milk chocolate. Milk. Light nuttiness. Taste is refined sugar sweet. And thatís about it, really. Given the ABV, this is a bit thin, and a bit bland.

Perfect hint of chocolate with a clean finish. No trace of bitterness. Among the best milk stouts Iíve ever tried.
