3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 alexanderj (3052) - Gilbert, Arizona, USA - FEB 3, 2013
Bottle; poured a very dark brown with a light brown head. Aroma of bittersweet cocoa, oats, earth with a hint of roasted. Not a chocolate bomb in a good way; blend of lactic sweetness, cocoa, roasted oats, a bit of chalk, fruit and earth. A very nice brew.
3.9 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20 flylikeabanana (158) - Boulder, Colorado, USA - FEB 2, 2013
Dark black pour with a thin brown head. Sweet aroma. Taste is sweet and balanced with a chocolate aftertaste. Very drinkable, ABV is surprisingly well disguised.

Bottle. Pours very dark, tan head. Smells chocolatey. Tastes very chocolatey, actually kinda tastes like chocolate milk, bitter finish, creamy, rich. Really good.
4.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 18/20 onceblind (2532) - Denver, Colorado, USA - FEB 1, 2013
Black with a very thin khaki head. Boozy chocolaty creme aroma with a touch of vanilla. Very smooth, sweet, and creamy flavor with chocolate truffle, boozy brown sugar and a chocolaty sweet finish.
3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 talon1117 (1152) - Fort Collins, Colorado, USA - FEB 1, 2013
The pour is nearly black with an average, fizzy, frothy, tan head which is mostly diminishing and leaves minimal, frothy lace. The nose is full of rich milk chocolate, some dark bread toast, molasses, light coffee presence, and some burnt caramel. The flavor is very similar with lots of milk chocolate, burnt caramel, brown sugar, quite lactic, lighter coffee, and faint molasses. The palate is nearly full, soft to lively, silky, round, and a bit syrupy. The finish is still sweet an silky, milk chocolate and molasses mostly, a light coffee bitterness left on the tongue. Drank more like a table strength beer than an imperial but the lactic notes made the beer a bit hard to drink at times. Nice beer but I was hoping for a little more complexity in an 8.5% beer from Odell.

Phenomenal brew, very drinkable but extremely complex. The lactose is just the right amount, always a faint hint of milk chocolate in the aroma and taste.

Aroma was Cadbury to a nose (no pun intended). Body was creamy with standard roasty cocao notes and mild sweetness. Couldn’t even taste the 8.5 percent
Another winner from odell.

UPDATED: JAN 30, 2013 starchy, crusty roasted malt with touches of dryer sheet, alcohol, mothballs, milk sugar / breakfast cereal and coconut milk... sheesh... sweet, syrupy, medium-thin body, watery and very artificial tasting. sweet and oily, burnt coconut / vanillin with noticeably hot alcohol. why are Colorado brewers so obsessed with flavored beers right now? ugh.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20 theisti (2817) - Leawood, Kansas, USA - JAN 28, 2013
12 oz goblet / tulip draft at Martin City Brewing Company in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is a hazed deep brown, with a well formed 1/2 inch darker tan head. The aroma is dark cocoa and roast malt, a bit of sweet creaminess. The taste is the nose, dark cocoa, roast malt and the creamy milk sweetness. There is a harshness to the way all the flavors integrate. The palate is medium to heavy bodied, lower carbonation level and lingering roast and cream. This didn’t totally do it for me.

Rich dark brown pour, light brown head. Ok folks, this is the one. Chocolate milk for adults. Sweet, chocolate, creamy, more chocolate. Hella good, but only one downside. I couldn’t drink a whole lot.
