If youíve ever been to our brewery, youíve likely seen the old, beat-up truck that hauls away our spent grain. That truck belongs to Lugene, whoís been feeding his dairy cows the hearty malt for over a decade. Named in his honor, Lugene Chocolate Milk Stout is brewed with milk sugar and milk chocolate. The rich and creamy brew reminds us of a cold glass of chocolate milk and our hometown "Aggie" roots.

Poured pitched black into a tulip with a tan head dissipating quickly. Aroma has a nice bitter chocolate with a hint of coffee and roasted malts. I was not prepared for the amount of chocolate that was going to hit the tongue but the palate on this is incredible. A chocolate milk stout, without question. This beer is dominated by bittersweet chocolate, heat is detected well after the finish but so smooth for 8.5%. Mouthfeel is almost thick with a creamy finish.

Bottle at home from Bottle Shop St Albans, split with Sarah. Dark black coloured pout with a lasting fine tan head. Some red hues. Aroma is sweet lactose milk sugars, miulk chocolate, some chocolate powder. Some toasted coconut and nuts on the nose as well. Palate is full bodied, moderate carbonation, semi sweet lactose. Flavour is cmooth milky chcolate, roast, some light berry fruits and raisin, lactose sugars. Very clean frement, hides that abv effortlessly. Really well integrated. Maybe a touch sweet.

Black pour with a thin quickly fading brown head. burnt sugar with a hint alcohol is what I smelled on this guy. Sweet chocolate with a hint of roasted malts made this an easy drinker. ABV is slightly detected the warmer this gets. Nice milk stout!

What a beer. Dessert in a glass. This is as close to chocolate milk or a cockade bar in a glass as Iíve ever had in a beer. And itís all thanks to they lactose in this. Not much on the nose... But everything in flavor... Creamy, milky chocolate. Soft. A touch watery on the end.. But forgivable considering what Odell has managed to achieve with this brew.

Bottled. Pours pitch black with a small, lacing tan head. Aroma of roasted dark malts, chocolate.and vanilla. Sweet flavor that ends up more dry andd slightly bitter. Medium bodied, creamy texture and soft carbonation. An excellent Stout.

A steady pour into my large Tripel Karmeliet tulip produces a one-finger thick, lightly browned, dark tan colored head. The beer is opaque, and pitch black in color. The aroma smells of coffee and chocolate liquor, vanilla, and a touch of roasted / burnt grain bite to the finish; though it leans towards sweet and rich, rather than burnt. Some hot alcohol becomes noticeable as the beer warms up, though it is held well in check.

Lightly sweet up front with a solid roasted character, the beer picks up more sweetness through the middle and finish though. The chocolate character is not overly strong here, and isnít even beyond what a dark beer can achieve on its own; having said that, this beer definitely has solid, dark chocolate flavors to it, a dark, roasted sweet malt character, and some sweet liquor like notes as well. The finish has a bit of a roasted, bitter bite to it, and this helps add some balance to this sweet leaning beer. The body is viscous and chewy, though without being overly rich and / or cloying. As the beer warms up a bit of alcohol adds some heat to the finish, though it is well balanced by the richness of this beer.

A bit on the sweet side perhaps, but that is the point with this beer; it definitely works as a rich, sweet, Milk Stout.

Iíve had a few Chocolate Stouts and this one may not be the best but itís a great Stout nontheless. You can definitely taste the sweet chocolate and malt flavors. Isnít too strong but comes on a little sweet so anyone who dislikes a sweeter flavor might not enjoy this route. I really enjoyed the lingering aftertaste which is super smooth. Almost like Iíd just eaten a Hersheyís bar.

This is a very well made beer, itís smooth and you donít taste the 8.5% at all. That gets you later. Itís very drinkable and is like chocolate milkshake which is too be expected, also tastes a bit like port and marmite but then Iím strange. Not much noticeable carbonation but then it is thick and jet black with a small initial cream head that contrasts nicely with the stout. No lacing either but it is kinda sticky and sweet like an actual choc bar. Nice as a dessert which is what I had this as but unless it was cold out I donít see myself drinking this one again for a while.

Black, burnt ring of fizzy bubbles; aroma is milk chocolate; taste is milk chocolate and fruity resinous hops; well carbonated for a stout; thick, yet light and surprisingly easy drinking; nicely sweet; pretty good.
