3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
Tan, creamy head with a purple black body. Moderate bitterness and medium body. Alcohol is mildly apparent but unfortunately plays a bigger role than Iíd like. Good malt presence.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pint at the Pepsi Center. Yes, the Pepsi Center. Let me acknowledge that Denver is amazing because the arena that hosts three major league teams has this beer among many other local crafts available. This was supposed to be a 12 oz pour, but the bartender didnít get the memo. We got a nice deep, dark pour with a frothy tan head. Aroma is crystal clean with roasty, chocolatey malts, even some coffee hints; all highlighted by pine and grapefruit. The palate is thick and full, conveying the malty goodness perfectly. Hops cut through like a knife with straightforward PNW goodness. Itís basic grapefruit/pine but so good. Finish is roasty, chocolatey, then bitter hops come out. This is an excellent example of the style.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
12 oz. bottle. Appearance: three fingers of light brown head, dark brown color, clear, great lacing, lasting head. Aroma: grass, caramel, chocolate, citrus, light vanilla. Palate: medium to full body, sticky texture, average carbonation, lasting mild bitter finish, great lacing. Taste: medium sweetness that lasts for about a second, then breaks and gives way to medium bitterness. Overall, very well balance, pretty unique for a black IPA in my opinion, and just very good.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Dark and bitter, beautiful stiff, but fluffy beige head and clumpy lacing. Dark brown, aroma of pine/hops. Taste hits hard with initial hop bitterness, some dark malts, chocolate, molasses. Light bitterness remains on the palate. nicely done.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 8/20
Poured from 12oz bottle into pint glass.
Aroma: Lots of pine, hint of citrus, black licorice, and almost no malt. Smells like a Chinook heavy hop bill.
Appearance: Dark amber with one finger, brown head. Good lacing, head dissipates quickly.
Taste: Piney hop front, with a slight malt body. Medium to heavy sweetness throughout, with a lingering hint of licorice. Pretty mild bitterness for a DIPA, this reminds me more of a hoppy Scotch Ale.
Palate: Good mouthfeel, with just a hint of bitterness.
Overall: Not what I was expecting from a double black IPA. I could see this being a decent desert beer.

4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Pours dark, not much head, bubbly. Taste is surprisingly smooth, solid comprehensive hop profile built upon a good malt roast. Not very strong for a DIPA, and not overpowering like some other blacks. Great beer.

4.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Dark appearance. Malty flavor comes through more than hoppy flavor. Smooth for a heavy beer.

3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 12/20
Quite the struggle to get the cork out of this one. As it finally came out I could tell why; no carbonation. Tried to force a head with the pour, but no dice. Black pour. No head. No lacing. Big hoppy aroma up front followed by a very malty aroma. Some notes of raisins and molasses. Taste is quite malty with a very sugary presence. Not bad, but not much of a BIPA. More like a stout with hops.

4.5 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
The best DIPA (or any IPA, so far) that I have had. This is a sumptuous, opulent ale that starts with a light pine and citrus nose, develops into a near-perfect blend of malt and hops and finishes hoppy and leaves the mouth begging for more. Hard to believe the ABV, it is so well-hidden. Drink this. Drink it now.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle poured into a snifter, black with a thick tan head; aroma is pine and little else; pine, cedar, a tiny bit of roasted malt up front; a well balanced finish; nice medium-heavy body and carbonation that doesnít get in the way. An odd beer that Iím reserving final judgements on.
