Pours a beautiful honey with a thin white head. Nose is astringent with elements of grass and pine. Medium mouthfeel with a somewhat one dimensional hop component bitter and biting. Subtle elements of orange and lemon oils finish. A bit more harsh than I would have expected from Odells excellent hop selections and outstanding IPA.

bottle. Pours clear orange gold, with white sticky head, good lacing, looks good. This is a big, fruity, ipa. Aroma of pineapple, tangerine, orange. There is a citrus component but it is not nearly as big as expected, more tropical fruits. Medium to full bodied, smooth, very drinkable. Hops less fruity and more floral in the flavor, with a malt backbone of biscuit. Almost grassy on the finish, with some grapefruit. I haven’t been into IPAs lately but this one was nice and fresh, quite good.

Pours a clear dark golden hue, amazingly pale and transparent for a DIPA. Big fluffy white head that lasted forever and left a good amount of lace. Aroma is intensely hoppy with a big fat load of tropical smells. Like the combined flavors of a Tropical Starburst pack. Sweet yet earthy tones of malt combine in the aroma. Taste was a big bitter shock, but halfway through the malt balance finally caught up. Flavor was tropical, not unlike the aroma. Grapefruit, pineapple, orange, with just a hint of tart berries. Not the biggest hop bomb ever, but it’s up there. Malt profile was kinda subdued, but was earthy and slightly toffee like. Bitterness lasted till the end, lingering on the palate until long after the finish. Pretty tasty, but harsh on the bitterness, and lingered a bit too long.

Tap at Falling Rock. Pours hazy orange with a medium, creamy white head, long retention with excellent lacing. Aroma is heavy malt (bread, toast, caramel, cereal), heavy hops (floral, citrus, pine), and average esters (apple/pear) with notes of peach, pineapple, and alcohol. Flavor is heavy malt (bread, toast, caramel, cereal), heavy hops (floral, citrus, pine), and average esters (apple/pear) with notes of peach, pineapple, and alcohol. Full body, high warmth, medium carbonation, and a dry and biting finish.

UPDATED: APR 11, 2011 Sweet candy-like floral, resinous and hoppy aroma. Appearance is modest, golden with slight translucency. Taste is extremely resinous, citrus fruit. Oily and long-lasting palate with a long finish. An extremely oily but delicious beer.

12oz bottle pours a nice IIPA like hazy gold with copper core and near white head. The modest aroma offers up some citrus hops like grapefruit, tangerine rind and a touch of lime as well as a shallow background of malt sweetness. Nice, the taste is thick and chewy with hops where the hop bitterness seems to out weigh the hop flavor. I get thick rich grapefruit, tangelo and spicy hops moving from resiny bitterness to hop flavor and back to bitterness again. Nice IIPA.

Hazy straw with white head. Good lace. All about the hops this beer is - as expected. Huge citrus. I can pull out grapefruit, pineapple and mango distinctly. Oily mouthfeel from all those hops. The beer is approachable, but nowhere near balanced. A fun beer for sure, but not a go to DIPA.

12 oz bottle (thanks mnbearsfan) into a Duvel snifter. Pours a light yellow-gold with a smallish head that dissipates to a coating. There is some some lacing which lasts all the way through. The nose is a lemony citrus (pineapple, mango, orange) with some bready, floral and sweet undertones. Taste reveals a very sweet and thin DIPA, with orange, lemon, and pine as the dominant notes. The finish is only mildly bitter and dry and this is a little thinner than I would have expected (almost like a pilsner or pale ale). The mouthfeel is crisp, medium in body and carbonation. I liked this offering but it is not terribly complex and is a bit too thin for my preference. Still, it is a solid offering and one I would have again.

12 oz. bottle at iTap-Soulard. Pours a cloudy, bright golden color with an inch-thick, frothy, eggshell white head. Aroma of floral hops, pine, sweet malts, citrus peel, and pineapple. Flavor of oily hops, pine resin, citrus peel, sweet and pale malts, and floral notes. Medium-bodied, with soft carbonation and a mouthfeel that starts resinous and then is oily the rest of the way. Really nice, unique DIPA.
