Named for Myrcene, a component of essential oils in the hop flower, Myrcenary Double IPA is our tribute to those who revere the illustrious hop, and their unyielding exploit to craft hop forward beers. Brewed with a blend of hops containing the highest levels of Myrcene, this double IPA prevails with a tropical fruit-like flavor, a pungent floral aroma, and a clean getaway.

bottle thanks to bhensonb. poured gold with a white head. aroma was sweet and sugary with very subdued hops; almost smelled more like a barleywine. flavor was pine, citrus, and slight floral notes. body was medium with medium carbonation. this seemed a bit more like a barelywine to me than a IIPA.

Half on keg at Cask Pub & Kitchen, Meet the Brewer event. Lasting filmy layer. Transparent amber body. Solid aroma of floral and tropical fruits. Perfumed flavour made up by pine, apricot, nectar and mid-sweet malts. Long-lived, dry bitter ending. Good, maybe a bit over the top (London, 30.07.2011).

AROMA: very hoppy, fruity, touch of conifers; APPEARANCE: hazy peach nectar, thin but persistent head, spotty lacing TASTE: sweet-ish, strongly bitter PALATE: slightly astringent, light lingering finish, medium body; OVERALL: does not disappoint

Had this on draft and I wasn’t impressed. Not much smell at all. Really thin head that faded fast in the pint glass (could have been a bad pour). Burns in the mouth with a big bitterness at the end. Sweet upfront like Pineapple & tropical fruit. Creative DIPA, just not that great in my opinion.

Bottle @ GBBF 2011. A little hazy yellow colored beer, with a thick white head. The aroma of hop bitters with fruits like citrus and pine’s. The taste is gentle bitter moving to more bitter, fruits like citrus with some sweet. The aroma is some sweet with bitter.

Bottle. Poured a hazy yellowish color with a tiny white head that faded rather quickly. Did leave some lacing as it went. Aroma was strong pines and spruce. Flavor was citrus, heavy hops and pines. Oily and very sticky. Very long finish. Great beer.

coolpop (1394) - Birmingham, Alabama, USA - AUG 7, 2011
Bottle. Pours a hazy orangey amber with a medium-sized off-white head. Aroma and flavor were dominated by the hops (pineapple, grapefruit, resinous, but not overly bitter) but there was also a good caramel malt backbone. Mouthfeel was slightly oily. A tasty DIPA.

Bottle (a bit past its best before date). Clear amber/golden with a big fluffy head that leaves some decent lacings. Agressive sweet hop aroma with some grapefruit, pine, pungent mango and caramel. But also a slight weird note of paprika and dry leaves in the beginning. Taste is sweet caramelly and tropical fruity and very hoppy with flowers and pine. Big body with very low almost flat carbonation. My earlier Odell beers were crap, but this one was nice, hoppy and sweet.

Pours a nice coppery-amber color with mid-sized head. Has kind of a dark, earthiness to its citrus and pine flavors. There’s a touch of sweetness in the background, too. Nice, dry finish. This is a good one.
