This time of year in the Rockies, one day can span all four seasons. Morning snow gives way to afternoon sun, sending fresh snowmelt into our rivers and into our mash tun. With a complex malt backbone dry hopped for notes of citrus and pine, itís almost as surprising as the season itself.

Bottle at the Breen's in Snowmass- pours clear amber with beige head. Some citrus, caramel malts and some musty notes. Kind of meshed bitter, earthy hop and malt profile. The finish is ok but there's a thinish body that just doesn't work for me here. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Btl pours ruby red with a slight haze. Massive off white billowing head that retains stature for quite some time.Head leaves huge amounts of lace on glass. Smells of pine, resin, citrus, tea leaves, bread, fresh baked cookies and a hint of alcohol.Tastes of sweet roasted malt, toffee, pine, grapefruit and mandarin oranges. Medium body, smooth creamy texture, tingling carbonation and a dry, lightly astringent, bitter finish. Very nice fresh hop flavors that work extremely well with the malts. An exceptionally smooth red ale that isnít overly sweet. Well done!

From 12oz bottle @Braukunst Live MŁnchen. Pours a delightfully misty, decently cabonated pink-red. Ieal balance between subtle caramel malts and mainly grapefruit zest hop bitterness. Chunky backbone as with those other prime IPA examples from CO by Daleís, while remaining fairly dry. Almost organic candy, such easy drinking.

Bottle. Pours a rich dark brown with a lacy, creamy light brown head. The nose is dry Kaffir lime, spice, and floral notes. Sweetness up front -- almost like fresh orange juice -- then the dry, astringent hops kick in and close off the tongue, leaving the finish clean and crisp and a bit short. Lovely.

UPDATED: MAR 7, 2014 A nice new beer from our friends at Odell. I got a lot of peach and passionfruit in the nose right off when the head was standing. Nice carbonation and clarity, a medium copper/red color. Nice mouthfeel. Dryer for a beer style that typically has a lots of crystal malts. Nice bitterness balance but you get some bitterness in the aftertaste but it isnít bad. Missing the IPA hop flavor and aroma could be bumped up a bit.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, off-white to light brown, mostly lasting. Body is dark amber. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (caramel, cookie), moderately hoppy (apricot, grapefruit, resin), with notes of dried papaya, gum, black tea. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly to moderately acidic, moderately to heavily bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation, lightly to moderately alcoholic. Better than expected, especially in the nose...itís got resin, but itís not a resin bomb. Nice tropical/estery notes add intrigue beyond the hops, and I donít detect any flaws. Itís not as enjoyable in the mouth, sadly, where itís a bit abrasive/brash, but the velvety mouthfeel helps a bit. Better than usual for this brewery.

Poured from 12 oz bottle into nonic glass Appearance: pours a thick, sudsy off white head. Head recedes slowly with moderate lacing. Color is amber with a slight reddish hue. Mild streaming carbonation. Aroma: citrus hops dominate the nose with bread dough some toffee in the background. Mouthfeel: light and frothy mouthfeel, slightly sticky, with a dry finish. Flavor: initial sweet flavors of bread dough and caramel give way to citrus and pine hops and hop oil through the middle and finish. Overall: another fine offering from Odellís.

3/3/14. With Michelle. Single bottle. Dillon, CO. Great aroma. Lackluster taste. It's a good beer but nothing to write home about. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
