COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
The Rocky Mountain Goat is no ordinary goat. Just like Odell Red is no ordinary red. We took the American-style red to a whole new level by adding a variety of aggressive American hops—giving this ale a distinctive fresh hop aroma and flavor. We think you’ll agree this red has some serious kick. Available February – May of ’09 6.5% Alcohol By Volume

Bottle. Dark amber with an off white head. Nice aroma, pine, caramel, toffee, dried fruits, some tropical fruits hops as well and a little alcohol. Taste is quite similar, more malt driven than the aroma, some resinous pine, dried fruits, toffee and caramel. Full bodied with a clean finish. Very nice

Good one, better than their IPA. Refreshing hops, with a cloudy rust pour. Tasty.

Clear reddish-amber pour with thin off-white head. Nose is a very citrus piney hop blast. Taste is more balanced with a nice dose of citrus hops at the outset layered on top of a longer lasting light caramel and biscuit malt sweetness. Very tasty one here.

Aroma is citrus and pine. Pours a deep dark amber with a nice off white head. Taste is malty sweet and hoppy bitter. Good beer.

Bottle from a generous BA trader - thanks! Pours a semi-hazy amber red with a small layer of tan foam. Aroma is sharp pine with some bitterness and minor citrus and a substantial malt backbone with some lingering sweetness. Taste is clean, balanced hop bitterness with pine leading into semi-sweet malt with raisin and caramel before giving way again to the pine and hop bitterness. Mouthfeel is clean and slightly coating. Hugely quaffable but with enough hop bite and malt presence to make the beer very engaging. I’m really impressed by this beer - excellent.

355ml bottle. Pours a deep red with a large frothy head. Aroma is orange piney hops with some toffee. Taste has caramel and orange jelly. Low bitter piney hop finish.

slightly more hops than expected for a red, but it works well. nice piney aroma, and pours a rich red-brown color. nice balance between the malt and the hops with a slightly earthy taste. leaves you feeling refreshed and wanting more.

Pours a clear amber color w/ a creamy, off-white head. Smells of bread, caramel, some hops. Taste is well-balanced between the malty sweetness & bitter, piney hops. Love how hoppy this is for a red!

Originally reviewed: 3/1/11. 12oz bottle poured into my Sweetwater pint glass. Best by: 4/28/11. Pours a clear dark amber with a thick finger-width beige head on top. Good retention; lots of sticky lace on the glass. The nose is bursting with fresh citrus, pine needles, herbs. Very fresh-smelling. I dig it. The mouth is moderately full. Good heft to it, but drinkable still. There’s a bit of a hop smack at the onset, but this flavor is fleeting and short-lived. There’s not a lot of depth to this one. Mild sweetness on the finish. Bready. This is a stellar drinkable beer, but I thought aspects of it could be more pronounced. It’s not a palate-torcher, which is fine, but there needs to be a bit more "pop" to the flavor. Still, I could see myself having this again and again. Good beer.

Tasty beer. Balanced taste of grapefruit and pine, surprisingly smooth given the reasonably high abv. Very drinkable.
