This time of year in the Rockies, one day can span all four seasons. Morning snow gives way to afternoon sun, sending fresh snowmelt into our rivers and into our mash tun. With a complex malt backbone dry hopped for notes of citrus and pine, it’s almost as surprising as the season itself.

Picked this one up at the COOP today.. the brew pours a clear reddish/amber... decent off white head with okay lacing and retention. Nose is good toasty malt and light caramel.. orange zest hoppiness.. Very nice hoppy American amber... all elements punch out and still meld well... great citrus zest.. sorta pithy... sorta dry with a great malt profile.. bits of caramel and nice dry toast... very balanced. Body is medium/light with appropriate carbonation.. long toasty finish with tangerine zest.

12oz bottle in a tulip. Pours deep amber/copper with a lacy, off-white head. Aroma of lightly citrusy, lightly piney, and floral hops, plus a good amount of caramel and pale/bread-like malts, and some dough. Flavor the same. Average texture. Not a bad IPA, but not the best.

Nice reddish dark amber color with a bit of head. Very little aroma, nice malty flavor with a undertone of hops throughout. No noticeable bitter hop aftertaste... Very impressive, I would drink this again and again.

Extra fresh six pack from Liquor Galaxy. Best before May 2014. Dude, I thought this was going to be pretty darn good, but this is better than that. This is in contention for best hoppy red ale I’ve ever had. The aroma is so fresh, so dank and grassy with rich grapefruit and herbs. Very light hints at biscuits come through to round out things, but the malts are barely any more cursory than in a standard IPA. Odell probably just threw in a dash of biscuit malt for color more than anything. The flavor packs a refreshing punch of citrus and pine in a defined, fresh and genuine way. This beer is not overly hopped and, it’s not just hopped to impart bracing bitterness with no direction. It’s a smart display of the kind of character American hops can impart and done with a color and malt profile that may raise an eyebrow in the IPA world. . .in a good way.

Nice aroma. Nothing complex in the taste but a solid floral note to the hops addition. Smooth drink and finish. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Not overly complex but fairly refreshing. Citrus hops and sweet malt. Aroma is fairly muted.

12 oz. bottle. Pours a well retained medium ivory head, with extensive lacing, over a clear, dark amber (SRM 18) body....nose is sweet malts with tones of toffee/caramel, pine, citrus peel from the hops, minimal esters.....taste is sweet malts, with toffee/caramel tones, no esters, pine, light grapefruit peel, ending with moderate bitter bite....mouth feel medium, slightly sticky, alcohol hidden, carbonation adds light tingle and clean light acid. This is slightly unbalanced beer, with hops dominating, that is slightly harsh on the bitter finish. That written, it is an easy drinker, which goes down without difficulty. BJCP 7/3/14/5/6

12 oz. bottle. Shared several with multiple members of brew club. Pours a medium off white head of good duration, with some lacing, over a clear amber (SRM 8) body.....nose is light citrus and pine, with a bit of toffee/caramel......taste is caramel, citrus, bit of pine.....mouth feel is medium, carbonation light. This is a very pleasant beer, flavors are well balanced, and there are no harsh edges. It is somewhat more hopped than a typical Irish Red, but the brewery was aiming for that. BJCP 8/3/15/5/7

12 oz bottle. Aroma is doughy, citrusy, piney, caramel, trademark Odell earthiness, biscuity. Pours almost clear amber with tiny particulates floating around under a two-finger beige head with excellent retention; leaves some groovy lace. Taste starts out sweet and savory before turning lightly bitter. Creamy mouthfeel, medium body. Nice!

12 oz bottle into English pint. Pours a slightly hazy amber with a medium beige head that dissipates in a couple minutes; cobwebby lace is left on the glass. Aroma is very floral and fruity; strong in pine, too. Taste is bittersweet and smoky. Carbonation is medium, body is medium-full. Excellent.

An IPA with a lighter side, the Runoff Red doesn’t come on too strong but still packs a flavorful hoppy punch with a mild finish. Very quaffable.
