3.6 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20
Sampled at Denver Winter Brewfest 2011. Reddish amber in colour with a nice white head. Smell is rediculously hopped. Very floral and grassy. Smelled way bitter. I expected more of a malt presence, but it IS fantastic smelling. Taste is very IPA like, with a big punch of citrus hops, but no big malt presence. About as mch malt as a bitter IPA. Unbalanced and unlike its style, but a good beer nonetheless.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
In bottle. This beer poured a nice clear red/orange colour with a decent yellowish head that lingered. The aroma and palate are both quite hoppy with a caramel malt character that rounds this beer off nicely. Deceptively drinkable for 6.5% abv.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
bottle-deep mahogony hue with a nice soapy eggshell colored head. big hoppy nose with quite a bit of sweet malt backbone as well. some nice herbal notes as well. flavors are sweet, hopppy, florarl, herbal, and nice carmel malt kick. not really that bitter but a little pine sits in there as well. a somewhat plastic note comes in the mid palate. palate is soft and medium mouthfeal. a much better than average beer for the style. maybe a bit too sweet for my liking (less sweet when fresh) but still very good.

UPDATED: FEB 27, 2010 damn. this is pretty good. Nice bonus beer surprise from doodler. thanks scott. Pours a clear ruby red with a small tan head. arom a of orange, caramel, citrus. PLus a weird grass earthy hop resin glow underlying all that other shit. FLavor is sweet malt hop mixture. Ok balance, but i would vote for an even higher hop to malt ratio. A nice hoppy red ale, not as hoppy as green flash hop head red, which is awesome, but deserves it’s place amongst the best amber ales out there. who knows. Only knocks on the beer is that it gets a bit earthy doughy note as it warms. Also, found myself wishing there were more hops in this. pretty good. would drink again.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Pour is a dark red with a large tan head. Aroma is of earthy malts and some oily hops. Flavor is some pine hops with some caramel malts and a touch of earthyness. Think of it as and IPA made with caramel malts. This one is a damn fine amber and one of the best i have ever tried.

12 oz. bottle from Plaza Liquors - Pours a slightly hazy deep amber color with a large off white head. Thick lacing. Aroma is floral, pine, and light herbal hops. Flavor is floral hops, esters, and a little bit of malt sweetness for balance. Finish is slightly bitter. Medium body. A very nice beer

3.2 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
Bottle from the single rack at USAFA Class 6. Pours a clear bronze color with a huge, foamy khaki head and thick lacing. Pretty big, hoppy aroma for the style but that’s nice because often ambers get muted and boring. Flavor might be a little disjointed. Nice hop notes up front but then a strange, malty flatness finishes things out. This gets better as it warms. Okay.
