750ml c&c bottle shared by Dean. Poured a rustic brown body under a large dense foamy beige head. Aroma of brett, medicine, wet wood, touch of dark fresh cherries, lemons, dark fruits hint of acidity. Body is medium, with average carbonation, lingering burn from the sourness. Flavor is a bit better than the aroma. Notes of brett, medicine, wet wood, lemon, cherry. Solid but a little harsh on the flavor and palate.

December 21st, 2012 - Another tall bottle of OíDellís comes off the shelf, though this time itís a very different style. Today, only days before Christmas, Iíve picked a sour, pungent beer for tasting: OíDellís Shenanigans. The pour yields a dark brown-red brew, marked by a deep, cloudy haziness, and a healthy webbing along the top and glass, giving my globe shaped goblet the appearance of a map featuring an archipelago. The natural, dry and tangy scent of balsa wood greets the nose, with fresh cut pine wood adding an extra bit of flavorful dry touches. Sour is this beerís spirit and soul, though, with lots of sour cherries taking up center stage. Also, you know how you often smell something that is more of an experience or a place than an identifiable consumable? Iím getting that a little here, with the scent of an old-fashioned toy shop: wood, pine, paint and simplicity. Itís hard to put my finger on, but the image is powerful and unmistakeable. By the time Iím ready to take a sip, the brew has already warmed considerably. The body is flat, with a medium-heavy weight, and a long, low stable sourness that doesnít wax or wane through the taste. Again, sour cherries reign here, combining both sweet and sour, like a Flemish red ale, but without such a diverse portfolio of fruits. Alongside the brighter, sour cherries, there are overripe, dark cherries too, and maybe some light cocoa. This is a fine sour beer, and while itís not my most treasured beer experience from Oídellís, itís engaging drinking, with a new note popping up as soon as I think Iíve finished my notes: roasted almonds. Simple and sour is the game here, and itís a nicely parsimonious set of flavors.

Slight sour. Murky deep red with a muddled taste. Oaky, plum skin, aged strawberries. velvety smooth. Could use a little more carb to liven it up.

Muddy brown with a cream head. Nose is lightly sour, cherry, rich malts, and wood. Easy palate, Brett, sour, tangerine, basement, funky, and wood.

Sampled at an ESBLS tasting. It poured a brown color with a tan head. The aroma was funky, of tarts, fruits and some yeast. The taste was of funk, yeast ,fruit, oak and some green apple. Nice.

Might have to revisit this one as I truly canít make up my mind. Dark murky scarlet pour with hints of ruby, crimson, and garnet. Eggshell crown. Caramel, brown sugar, toffee, vanilla, funk, oak, herbal and a subtle spice. Love the idea of this using Woodcut barrels...just not sure the fruit flavor combination works well for me. Another bottle will help.

I have had this beer on tap twice, I think two different batches. Both times I really did not enjoy it. I think it is the "house brett" which is akin to the disaster that was Hivaranno. Now this isnít as bad because its at least carbonated. Otherwise, sometimes its a thin line between a good brett beer and a bad brett beer. Chemical and solvent with feral type of brett dominates.
I swear to God, Iíll pistol whip the next guy that says íshenanigans!í

(750ml bottle) clear deep crimson, creamy deep tan head that sticks around. Nose of Brett, oak, caramel, floral, clover, fresh cut herbs. Taste of herbs, cherry, spices, cinnamon, not tart but funky and Brett forward.

Bottle picked up in St. Louis. Pours a deep brown-red with an off-tan head. Nose is really neat. Vanilla, cherry pie, crackery with a sweet and earthy play to it. On tasting, it has picked up some subtle acidity but is more barrel and brett driven. Light sweetness/vanilla with a drying brett finish. Cool beer.
