Brownish red in color with a tall khaki head. A mild tartness but lots of different straw, grass, and funky aromas. A bit of citrus peel along with lots of oak and apple. Some bready malt as well. The flavor is sort of mediocre. A bit of plastic in there, too. Subtle tartness and barnyard funkiness as well as the straw, grass, and musty oak.

Brown pour with some reddish edges. Beige head. Aroma is funky, tart, fruity and smells like PVC pipe. Flavor has some funk, yeast ,fruit, oak but the PVC pipe aroma carries to the flavor, green apple. Im not a fan. Odell seems to come close, but never quite hit the mark.

Poured a deep reddish brown, with a huge tan head. Great lacing and smells of spice, light brett, cinnamon, oak, and malty sweetness, very interesting. Taste is wood, yeast, sweet caramel, light cinnamon, and earthiness. Palate is creamy and has high carbonation. Overall, I enjoyed this beer, it was very interesting.

As expected this pours crimson with a sturdy tan head. The aroma has musty fruit (peach / ripe apple), light brett funk, toasty malt, lots of spicy phenols, bit of oak and a good bit of sweet malt. Fairly full body that is smooth with a lot of soft gentle carbonation that fits the beer well. The flavor starts like the aroma, but all of the flavors are magnified a bit. The sweetness hits first along with the fruit aspect - very ripe fruit along with some musty cellar notes. The brett and oak come out on the finish a bit, but they mainly accent the other flavors. There is a mild alcohol warmth, but it’s not hot at all to me. Interesting beer.

The pour is a nearly murky, blood red, deep crimson color with a full, off-white, pillowy, fluffy head which is somewhat lasting and leaves minimal, scattered lace. The nose is pleasant with an earthy funkiness, dried apricots, candied dates, light orange peel, toasted caramel, and vanilla edges. The flavor starts with toasted caramel and rich vanilla, some figs, and a tropical citrus notes but dries out revealing dry earth, dry oak, and a cinnamon note. The palate is dry, lively, moderate to full, and velvety. The finish is drying, leafy, citrus turning almost limey, still vanilla oak, and a caramel sweetness. Certainly an interesting use of the brett on such a rich, malt forward beer. The flavors really did work together but the palate just inhibited the malt richness from emerging fully and the flavor progression to develop. The nose was great but the rest of the was only good.

Pour on tap at the brewery was clear red with a thin white head, aroma brought notes of plastic, garbage bag type aromas with some sickly sweet fruity and sugary notes, hints of caramel as well with slight lactic and funk notes. Taste was the same plastic and garbage notes, hints of rotten fruit and caramel, finishing slightly tart. Not good.

I was pretty excited to get this beer at first. First pour it has a nice reddish hue to it and the aroma was a sweeter smell. The taste however really threw me for a loop, at first it was really bitter and tasted like a leather but after letting it sit for a few minutes it still had that leather flavor but not as prominent. Overall I thought it was a decent beer, there definitely could have been something more to the flavor.

Tulip glass draft at Martin City Brewing Co in Kansas City, Missouri. The pour is a hazed ruby copper brown, with a one inch light tan head. The aroma is caramel malt, floral, honey sweetness and a very faint soft lactic sour. The taste is honey sweet malt, a bite of light bitter tangy floral, then finishes with a oak woodiness. Aftertaste lingers with some bitter sharp cherry skins. The palate is medium bodied, tingling carbonation, and the rather rough finish. A little unrefined tasting, though interesting.
