COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
A mystic legend echoes in our brewhouse - that of St. Lupulin the archetypal hophead. He devoted endless summers to endless rows of hops, tending to the flowers and the beloved resin within - lupulin. Extraordinary oils in this yellow resin provide this dry-hopped extra pale ale with an undeniably pleasing floral aroma and clean, crisp finish. One sip of this seasonal summer ale and you, too, will believe.

Smells like floral hops, malt is present as well. Not overly bitter. This is a really tasty pale ale and I would drink it again.

Bottle. Pours a clear gold with three fingers of off white, replenishing head. Good retention and some thin lacing. Aroma is bitter, hoppy, resinous, and mildly citrus. Flavor is hoppy, strong citrus, floral, with a bitter, resinous finish. Moderate carbonation, medium body, and crisp texture. An enjoyable pale ale.

Not bad pale ale. However, surprisingly high ABV for a summer ale, and not as robust in flavor I would expect from an ABV of 6.5. Light and malty, with hop pine and floral notes combined with malt at the front end and residual hop bitterness (not IPA levels tho) at the back end. I'd drink this again but wouldn't seek it out. Was expecting more resiny notes due to the lupulin. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Type: 12-oz. bottle Glass: Hotel glass (half pint, half snifter) From: Wilbur’s Total Beverage in Fort Collins, Colo. Price: Part of a variety 6-pack for $9.99 Purchased: May 2, 2013 Consumed: May 3, 2013 Misc.: Best by Aug. 14, 2013 Poured a caramel orange amber color with two fingers of khaki white head. Lots of bubbles on the side and coming up from the bottom. Good uneven lacing on the sides. Average-to-below average retention on the top all the way down. Smelled awesome floral hops right from the get-go. Also some citrus notes - tangerine, orange peel, grapefruit and lemon. Nice and flavorful. First taste reminded me of the Odell IPA that I tried the night before, just not as strong. So that also means that it reminded me of Manzanita IPA and the Chaotic. Floral hops, more bitter than the smell. Could taste the alcohol for sure. Lemon grass and orange peel as well. Some butter notes. Light-to-medium body. Creamy texture. Average-to-lively carbonation. Slightly bitter finish. A pretty good pale ale. If you try the Odell IPA, you’re almost trying the same thing. But that is not a bad thing. Good beer.

On tap at the Trailhead. Golden and clear with a small white head. Floral hoppy aroma, light citrus. Medium body with a dry feel. Bitter piney herbal hop flavor. Clean dry bitter finish.

Ooh, that’s a nice aroma - a whole mix of zesty and tropical fruits, pleasantly caramelly too. Simple palate, almost a bit watery, pleasant carbonation. A little dead in the mouth. However, it’s very tasty, lots of C hops in the retronasals, but it’s not lacking a fairly well attenuated bready malt backbone either. To me, this is a good, or great, example of an "Golden Ale", it doesn’t have the stickiness and fullness that characterises most APAs. Pleasant bitter bite, a nice tingle. I’ll say it again - well attenuated; and I like that in a beer. Dang, very much enjoyed this despite it being quite simple. A simple thing done very well. Carbonation just a little too high, perhaps, as it burps a lot. Nice to have another hit from this brewer (Cutthroat porter being a very respectable 3.6), after the disappointing bretty flop we had.

Ehh. Nothing to special. This really doesnt sit well with me. It could be good outside on the lawn mower or on a river.

Bottle from Tomlinsons, Inverness [140213]
Yellow orange, thin bubbly white head, some lacing
Aroma of resinous hops, floral nose, zesty citrus, touch of grass hop, light caramel fairly fruity malts, lots of aroma
Taste of citrus hops, resinous hops, nice fruity hops, some floral notes in there, good sweet pale malt background that lets the hops through, no harshness, easy going for 6.5%
Palate medium carb, medium body, little oilt. Palate fairly biting hops with a nice sweet pale malt base. Finish as main flavour, good fresh bitter hop clean finish
Overall - Come across as a very refined IPA and well balanced. Nothing over the top but just well done...great beer
