3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Deep ruby brown color with a finger of head and good lacing. Aroma of cherry skin and berries with a tart smell. Tart taste of unripe berries with a tartness that fades into a surprising roasted malt and chocolate flavor. Fizzy mouthfeel with light/medium body and high carbonation. Not too tart with a nice fruit flavor and unexpected chocolate. Interesting style I have never had before.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hazy brown, tons of tan head and lace. Thick and frothy like after a raunchy Santorum. My glass is absolutely filthy after a few sips. Gorgeous.
Nicely blended, plenty of oak and fruits, relatively straightforward. Dark cherries. Solid.

Flavor is definately more sour than roasty. It has a nice lightly toasted malty base but the yeast is really the star. Great sour/tart flavor and good balance keeps it from being overpowering.

Thunderstorms in WA, time to pop something unusual.
Pours hazy brown, looks like wood. Huge head, and almost a gusher (I was expecting as much, so it didn’t gush).
Smells tart, cranberry, baby diaper, and funk. Bit of bandaid.
Taste cherry, tart, lactic, bit of earthy funk on the end. Pretty complex.
Drinkable. Hides alcohol very well.
Well done. One of the better American sours I’ve had.

Bottle at a tasting at James’ place. Pours a lightly hazed brown with a thin white head. Soft malt and a bit of acetone and fruit. Big acid, acetic and warming, old fruit, wood, a bit of tangy malt. Warming alcohol and acid on the finish. Tasty.

750 ml bottle acquired from Zipp’s Liquor (St. Paul, MN). Thanks, Ty To. Finally cracking this one during a rating dump. Pours a deep dark brown hue, healthy ruby highlights. A cakey tannish head atop stays as a large layer, laces well and sticks around as a firm film. Darker. Aromas are sour cherries, wet oak, a touch biscuity and earthy. Vanilla, firm lactic sourness, gentle red wine with raspberries, cherries, and a firm pulpy fruit nose. The brett presence becomes more apparent as it settles, dry and funky. Initial is lighter end of medium bodied, firm lactic bite up front. Sour red fruit, cherries and gentle raspberry. A bit sharp and dry, moving into the middle we see some firm to decent fruit presence. Cherry, dark fruit, plum and prune meet a bit of raspberry. The intensity from the nose isn’t quite there but it’s still pretty nice. Backend is a touch hot, definitely get a bit of warmth from this one back there. Firm oak, a nicer bretty hit as we move on. A bit tart, red fruit, some plum and gentle dark fruit. Tart and a bit hot as we finish. The front and nose are really nice, but it’s a bit hot in the finish. Too big overall in the alcohol presence. Ok, just seems like less ABV presence would make this a much better beer. A bit of carmelized malt, faint cocoa in small touches, a firmer brett presence with that heat. Cobwebs, dryness, and basement. Has a lot of potential but really finishes in a bad sort of way.
