Doug Odellís admiration for the British brewing culture has led him across the pond - a lot. In 2008, Doug landed at Thornbridge Brewery and in the company of kindred brewing spirits. This visit led to a collaboration brew at Thornbridge in 2010. Fast forward to 2012 to find the two breweries at it again, this time at Odell Brewing. Pond Hopper Double Extra Pale Ale is the love child of this international brewmance. Brewed with English malts and American hops, Pond Hopper brings together the best ingredients each country has to offer, balancing a subtle sweet malt character with hints of mango and peach hop flavor. It pours a rich golden color with citrus and ripe melon essence in the nose. No matter which side of the pond youíre on, hereís to good beer and good friends. Cheers.

750ml cork & caged bottle from Wilburs. Pours orange with a white head. Big citrus, apricot and peach hop nose. Med body with more light fruit notes and sweet caramel malts. Rich malt finish with bright citrus notes. The American hops shine through.

750 c&c from Wine & Cheese in Clayton, MO. Pours hazy light orange with a creamy white head. Aroma is floral and fruity. Med + body. Flavor is very light roast malt with a great deal of floral, tropical perfume fruit, and some citrus. Itís extremely hoppy, dry and bitter, but not harshly bitter. Still thereís a bit of hop burn on tongue edges. Donít think heat is detectable. Bordering on too perfume/ripe fruit, but still good. Very flavorful.

Bottled@Cask Pub & Kitchen, London. Amber colour, small foamy white head. Aroma is fruity, caramelly, floral and some slight herbal notes. Flavour is caramel malts, floral and fruity hops along with some yeast and mild nectary notes. Rather richly carbonated.

beautifully balanced. suppable loveliness. doesnít taste like a DIPA to me though, itís smoother than that. I donít know if itís the malt that takes away the IPA intensity of it or what... but this is good stuff.

Poured from a 750ml bottle. Around of apricot, floral, sweet malts, hints of citrus. Taste is all infection. Defiantly a Brett character. Solid tartness, fruity, malty. Gushed on opening, very dry finish. Not so good. I am overly critical rating this beer because Odells is a solid brewery and should have never released this.

Corked and caged bottle. This was a bit of a gusher with a big white head. Deep golden and cloudy. Some nice citrus hops take this beer a long way. There are other, more complex fruit notes, too. Herbal ones, too. The malt is a bit crackery and interesting. The alcohol was not tasted.
