3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
750ml corked and caged bottle poured into a Snifter at 45°. Color is a light gold with easy carbonation and a fluffy white head. Aroma is a fresh sweet fruity hop scent. It has a bolder medium body with a rich mouth feel. Flavor is rich, malty and has a nice fruity sweetness then a touch of pine shows with a bold bitterness. In the after taste all the flavors hang on with the pine standing out, a little more bitterness and a some alcohol showing. Overall it very well done, its big and bold without being overdone.

Keg @ Sheffield Tap. Dangerously drinkable. Warming with alcohol, slightly syrupy. Quite a lot of sweetness and malt balancing the hops and alcohol. Great way to end a day touring the pubs of Sheffield.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Poured from tap at Sheffield Rail Station, England. To start with, this place has an amazing bottle list with many beers from the United States that I can’t even get a hold of. Has a string malt character with enough hops to come through. Not an American IPA but certainly not a light hopped English IPA either. Great change from drinking normal English IPAs all week. Time to catch the train!

At Flanny’s for the Odell Tap Takeover. Clear and golden pour, thin white head. Nice balance of English malts and hoppiness..a little melon flavor as well. Very enjoyable.

3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
750ml bottle. Pours a clear golden orange with a huge rocky off white head that retains well and laces the glass.
The aroma is caramel/crystal biscuity malts with some grassy slightly fruity hops.
The flavor is sweet sugary and slightly soapy caramel malts with some slightly metallic and fruity hops that add decent bitterness in the finish. There’s a bit of alcohol burn in the finish too. The mouthfeel is medium bodied with slightly sharp carbonation.
Overall, it’s decent but a bit too sweet and on the English side of the style for me.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Hazy blonde. Thin head. Medicinal aroma with lots of hops. Rich flavour, with lots of malt and fresh hop character, as well as some overt yeastiness. Lively beer, has some of that hoppy Thornbridge character.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
The beer pours a hazy, deep copper color with a moderately full, off-white, rocky, pillowy head which is somewhat lasting and leaves scattered lace. The nose is quite nice with subtle sweet breads, toasty caramel, some spice, very floral, light melon, tangerine, and some mango as well. Similar flavor with more melon, some peach emerging, floral becoming resinous, still a bit spicy, sweet caramel underneath, and lighter tangerine. The palate seems thin for the style but works with this one; medium, lively, creamy, and velvety. The finish turns a bit astringent and grassy with some faint floral and resin there, and peach lingering. Actually the beer had me intrigued until the finish where things seemed to unfold a bit. The flavor seemed to hold together very well with so many complementary notes, but the astringent and grass notes kill that. A bit of a roller coaster with such a nice beginning but just wasn’t all that likeable beer to drink. Still something very different from the norm and a nice attempt.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Tasted on 6/19/12 from a corked and caged 750mL bottle from the Michael Jackson Beer of the Month Club. Pours clear orange/amber with a very thick off-white head that slowly recedes to rocky lace. The nose is dominated by fruity hops, ranging from tropical mango and pineapple to peach and apricot, with a nice caramel malt backbone. The flavor is a touch sweeter than I was hoping, with the caramel malt coming through powerfully. The hops are the same, very fruity, with a nice touch of bitterness on the back of the palate. The body is medium with lively carbonation and a long, tropical fruit and nicely bitter finish.

Keg at Cask Pub and Kitchen, Pimlico, London. An amber/golden coloured pour with a medium white head on top. Sweet, tropical fruit aroma. Tastes quite sweet, tropical fruit, malty, caramel, definite orange taste too. Typical double IPA, very enjoyable.
