Doug Odellís admiration for the British brewing culture has led him across the pond - a lot. In 2008, Doug landed at Thornbridge Brewery and in the company of kindred brewing spirits. This visit led to a collaboration brew at Thornbridge in 2010. Fast forward to 2012 to find the two breweries at it again, this time at Odell Brewing. Pond Hopper Double Extra Pale Ale is the love child of this international brewmance. Brewed with English malts and American hops, Pond Hopper brings together the best ingredients each country has to offer, balancing a subtle sweet malt character with hints of mango and peach hop flavor. It pours a rich golden color with citrus and ripe melon essence in the nose. No matter which side of the pond youíre on, hereís to good beer and good friends. Cheers.

Pours a golden clear with 4 finger frothy white head with very heavy lacing. Toasted malt with mild caramel. Pineapple, grapefruit and spruce hops. Hint of sweet, but very bitter hop driven flavor with full body and soft carbonation. Long, bitter finish. This is excellent

Bottle shared by a friend. Clear orange in color with a thick tan head. Aroma of orange, pine, grapefruit and malt. Flavor starts malty, but grapefruit comes through quickly with grassy hops and sweet orange in the finish. Tasty!

750 ml corked and caged bottle. Pours hazy yellow-orange with a medium cream-colored head with good retention. Aroma is piney, doughy bread, floral, lemon rind. Taste starts out sweet and savory and a little sour before becoming bitter. Grapefruity. Highly carbonated and a creamy mouthfeel. I canít remember ever having an impy IPA with this much of an umami presence. It seems like a cross between an American Imperial IPA and something like Fullerís ESB. Really good.

Pours hazy orangeish yellow with white fizz. Aroma of fruity and citrus hops with a big pale malt sweet punch. The taste is crazy, hard to nail down. Some pilsner and big English pale malts contend with the flavor of the myriad floral, delicate orange-lemon, dry fruity hops. Very deep beer, has a sweet mid section but a musty dry finish with an English pale character. Pretty solid, another stellar piece of work from Odell.

Bottle from liquid treasure in belper. Stunning, such an American feel to it. I put it next to three floyds alpha king in aceness and I think it should stay there.

Purchased one of the last three bottles that were available in England on 17 Oct 2012. This was one of the best beers brewed. At 8.9%, this is crazy easy to drink and should be savoured for ever. Please brew this again. Drank with friends in BurySt Edmunds, England.

Bottle. Golden amber with an off white foam. Aromas are white grape (so often, recently) with melon, light grapefruit and hints of pineapple. Biscuit and oak with floral notes and candy sugar. Bready yeast with lemon and cream. Melon with low pine and grassy notes. Flavours are sweet sugar and lemon with bready yeast and pepper. White grape juice with lemon and sugar. Spicy on the finish. Good, even if a little familiar after some of the other brews Iíve had recently.

Countbeer (5608) - Best of E-Town mit 2 Brauhausen, NETHERLANDS - OCT 2, 2012
Bottle Medium somewhat airy but still vast and slow disappearing off white creamy head on top of a hazy orange colored beer. Smell sharper hay/plant and grassy hops, porridge, a light sourness, sweeter malts, peach, light hint of sharp plastic and some sharper floral notes. Taste is hoppy with creamy hop flowers and bitterness, grape fruit, exotic fruit and some typical peach and abricot, a nice malty backbone and a light sharper edge. Medium carbo, soft but lightly blown mouthfeel, medium to fuller body and a creamy sticky texture. Itís nice but somewhat stingy and thatís not what i really like.
