4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 18/20
Bottle from Jimbo. Big, dark amber pour. Lots of wood on the nose. Flavor is oak, caramel, vanilla and brown sugar. Some fairly strong heat, but the overall smoothness of the beer tends to mellow things out.

2.5 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 3/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 9/20
Dark amber. Very dynamic. No lacing. Not sure what to think of this. Interesting, but confusing.

4.2 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle: Poured a reddish color with a nice white head. The aroma was dark fruits, vanilla, oak and malt. The flavor was smooth, with oak, vanilla, nuts, beets, raisins and a finish with a nice dry aftertaste from the oak. Overall, an excellent beer. I think Old Ales are climbing the charts in my book.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
This one was actually a little disappointing, I had high hopes for it, and while it certainly had some lovely woodiness to it, there just wasn’t enough depth to the flavor for my liking.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
750ml Corked and caged. Bottle #1972. Pours a murky brown almost purple with a large 3 finger airy off white head. Aromas aren’t very strong at all but I do get a lot of booze, some plum, raisins, cherry, and caramel malts. Flavors of pretty much the same heavier on the booze, raisins, and there is some oak there as well. Palate is too fizzy and carbonated for my liking. Glad I got to try it but not happy I spent $25 on it. Ahh well, maybe the next one will be better.

4.2 AROMA 9/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Careful opening, highly carbonated!
Rich mahogany pour with a huge, expansive loose tan head. The head hangs around much longer than most beers.
Aroma is of freshcut wood, seriously. Also sweet malt, raisans and bright cherry in there.
Truly a complex flavor. Every sip uncovers another taste. The oak is consistently there, with vanilla, tobacco, malt and dried fruit also there.
The flavor transforms almost to a black tea about 30 seconds afrer the swallow.
Palate is outstanding, ligjht upfront, smooth next and coating. Remarkable.
Is this beer worth $25? No. If this beer was mass produced, I say $18 would be a fair price today. However, $25 will be cheap as this beauty ages. I will grab a couple more tomorrow if I can for the cellar and celebrate this with freinds at the release of future Woodcuts.
Odell, you are on to something!
