COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Odell Woodcut No. 2 , an oak aged golden ale, was brewed over six months ago on the brewery’s pilot brewing system. The golden ale has been aging in virgin oak barrels and will bottle condition in cork finish, 750 ml bottles. Crafted with fine specialty malts and hops, Woodcut No. 2 is a golden copper color. The rich toffee-like malt character is balanced by soft tannins. Freshly cut wood and vanilla bean aromas compliment the beer’s smooth finish.

Bottle. Pours burnt orange rust with a small head; hazy. Aroma is quite sweet and perfumey with vanilla, pudding, orange, marzipan, brown sugar, cinnemon, wood, and slight earth. Tastes sweet with brown sugar, vanilla, maple syrup, wood, bitter citrus and earth. Finishes initially sweet but dries out more than expected with flavors of wood, buttered toast, light amounts of bitter citrus. Thick, viscous and creamy mouthfeel, little in the way of alcohol heat. Great dessert beer without the "dark" qualities that usally accompany such sweet beers.

Thanks to Degarth for bringing this one. Pours hazy orange with a soapy white head. Nose is overwhelmingly sweet at first, but it settles down as the beer warms to reveal the sheer complexity. Smells of yam, malt, maple, brown sugar, white sugar, oak, and vanilla. Flavor has the same problem that solves itself as the beer warms. This beer is very complex in the manner of sweetness, but without caressing it, the flavor simply comes off as cloying. Medium bodied and slightly sticky with vanilla, maple, and sugar staying around after the finish.
