COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Odell Woodcut No. 2 , an oak aged golden ale, was brewed over six months ago on the brewery’s pilot brewing system. The golden ale has been aging in virgin oak barrels and will bottle condition in cork finish, 750 ml bottles. Crafted with fine specialty malts and hops, Woodcut No. 2 is a golden copper color. The rich toffee-like malt character is balanced by soft tannins. Freshly cut wood and vanilla bean aromas compliment the beer’s smooth finish.

Bottle 3950, aged 3.5 years. You can’t have your cake and eat it too, no? Nowhere near the "pop" as no. 1. Deep copper pour with a flimsy tan head. Not much carbonation at all. Candy and malt dominate the nose and mouth, oaky feel about this ale. Finishes sweet and warming.

The sweetest and most oak character of the woodcut series to me. Opens with no pop, very little carbonation and no head. plenty of barrel here, slight brown sugar & raisin, tannins with a bit of a syrupy mouthfeel. Some vanilla but not as strong as other in the series.

The pour is a light amber color with a finger of off-white, almost khaki, head. As with all the Woodcut series, a very heavy oak aroma. Lots of sweet caramel malt and golden raisin fruitiness. There’s a hint of vanilla, some apple, and a touch of citrus. The flavor is on the sweet side with caramel, toffee, brown sugar, and vanilla. A pleasant fruitiness of raisin, pears, and apples. Light citrus peel and quite a strong dose of oak.

Hazy amber beer, not much of a head. Soft silky palate, low carbonation. Smooth semi sweet vanilla oak gives way to creamy fruits - with orange leading the pack. Finishes soft and creamy. Drinks well below 11.0%! Lovely!

bottle 3076 Orange copper color. Lots of vanilla, oak, lychee, and carmel in the nose. Taste follows nose. Just like a lighter barleywine. One the sweet side. strength is palate. Lots of oak and vanilla. Quite coating but quite oak dry finish. Low carbonation and in and out of mid to heavy body. Good stuff. Slow sipper but good stuff

bottle from big J at rbwg 3/5/11. hazy orange-ish brown with an ow head. it smells and tastes of caramel, spicy wood business, vanilla, toffee, green wood, bruised apples and some resin. it is on the fuller side and definitely a sipper. it may have hit its sweet spot cause this is drinking perfectly! 8/4/8/4/17 best of the bunch of woodcuts so far...8/4/8/4/17

I haven’t rated a beer in quite some time, but I had this about a month ago for a special occasion and thought it deserved a rating. One the most flavorful beers I have ever had. It is sour and tart with a whiskey barrel finish. Don’t think there is another beer like it anywhere. If you can find it still, I would definitely give it a whirl, the flavor is so unique.

Pour thanks Aaron! Nice orange hazy pour with nice white head, aroma has notes of nice spice, oak, vanilla, some estery fruits, caramel and toffee, some white grape. Taste is lots of wood, oak and vanilla, some nice fruity notes and slight spice but pretty dominated by the oak. Good stuff, tasty, dry, and very woody.

Bottle shared by adnielsen (thanks, Aaron) - clear sparkling gold pour - nose of oak, vanilla, honey, sugary sweetness - very sweet and fairly unidimensional up front, with some sticky toffee flavor dominating - strong, almost bitter and spicy oak character through the middle, with strong alcohol presence - gets a bit tangy on the tail end, bringing slightly more complex tropical fruit notes like orange and mango - okay, but overly sweet for my tastes.

Bottle @ Dan’s house. Glowing, slightly dark orange appearance with a cream colored head. Nice oaky, woody, citrusy, rich malty, slightly boozy nose. Rich caramel, toffee, moderately sweet woody, oaky flavor with a little bit of booze on the finish. Pretty sweet flavor but also nice and woody.
