Pours out a copper/amber color with a small off white head. Aroma is lots oak, light earth and some sweetness. Taste is very complex, oak, caramel, light fruits, earthy almost nutty notes come through also. Alcohol is very well hidden. Very well done. Both the aroma and taste carry through the wood notes very well.

750ml bottle from Secret Santa (RCL). Pours hazy amber with very large tan head. Aroma is heavy with oak and vanilla with caramel and malt. Flavor is dominated by oak and vanilla with some caramel, malts, and some booze. Finishes malty with lots of oak. Would be a great beer on a cold fall evening by the fire. Too bad I had in on a hot humid day in the middle of July.

750 thanks to Eugene. Pours a dark brown/red color with a huge off-white head. The aroma is sweet fruity malts, lots of hops almost like a malty barley wine. The flavor is a great ASA; sweet caramel, dry, massive malts dominate, some light fruity hops. It all comes together well. Very good.

750ml shared by my pal Jeff - thanks, hoss! Odell heavily hopped strong beers have been impressive to me, and this one certainly continues the trend. Big bold gleaming red pour, with a huge creamy head. Sharp and aggressive hops in the nose blend very well with the spicy wood. Abundant mouthfeel, with a faint prickly quality to it that keeps things lively. Flavors are very intense and enjoyably aggressive, like a cross between Odell’s India Barleywine and Alesmith’s Decadence 2006. Nice!

Huge vanilla oak aroma layered over dates and figs. Flavor and mouthfeel are big and rich, almost syrupy, but lightened just enough by the vigorous carbonation. Really good stuff, but not the religious experience #2 was.
