3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
June 2011 dated bottle poured a hazy orange with a fair tan head. Aroma is complex. The oak hit me first, and then dark fruits with some vanilla and spices. Some reddish-brown residue at the bottom of the glass. This was perfect for dinner the day after Christmas, shared with my nephew from NJ, who hadn’t seen this one before, either. A well crafted Belgian quad. The only negative is the price.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle @ Danish Summer Gathering, Ulfborg 2011. Bottle froma trade with tytoanderso. Many thanks Tyler ! Dark copper color, with a slight haze, tiny brown head that disappears very quickly. Intense sweet malt aroma, ripe fruit, caramel, oak. Flavour is again sweet malty, with lots of fruit, oak, burnt sugar and I can taste the alcohol much more than I would have expected judging from the nose. A very nice brew who would probably benefit from a coupel years of aging.

750. Pours a deep amber color with a small white head. Aroma is spicy and sweet with a nice dark fruit note, lots of that raisin and plum with a sharp Belgian yeast a touch of sharpness, some wood, oak earthiness. Flavor starts sweet and dark fruit, earthy oak coming through before a touch of vanilla, spicy towards a sharp lightly tart finish. Medium to medium full body and a crisp carbonation.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle:   Darker shade of caramel, thin sudsy off-white head, spotty lacing.   Oak, caramel, and candied citrus peel on the nose.   Fresh cut oak on the tongue, minor caramel, faint citrus peel and pith on the tongue.   Hard to believe this is 11.3%.   Body and mouthfeel are moderate.   Soft woody finish, pale caramel, a little musty, pale Oak lingers.   Not a big Quad, without a lot of the dark pitted fruit, more woody than most.   More woody, less dark pitted fruit, but hides the 11.3% ABV oh so well.   Seems like a signature American Quad example.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
At SAVOR. This beer poured a slight hazy brown/red color with a tan head. Aroma was dark fruits, vanilla notes, oaked characteristics. Touch of spice, dried fruits, cherries, and so on compliment this. Alcohol burns a bit, but the flavors that the beer imparts certainly covers this up quite a bit on the initial tasting.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap @ Odell Brewery. Hazy dark copper, with a thin lacing head. Smells very malty, like a scotch ale but without any cocoa or heather. Nice earthy aroma with subtle sour woody tones. Taste is very smooth and complex. Starts woody and earthy with slight vanilla tones; ends slightly sour with tones of fresh tilled soil, sour yeast, ans more oak tones. Super complex malt undertone underneath a very "barrel aged" flavor.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Pours dark orange-brown. Huge aroma of oak slaps you in the face, along with vanilla, raisins, figs, molasses, and some spice. This is a very nice quad, but everything takes a back seat to the oak. Complex and interesting.
